Headteacher’s message
The challenging thing for school leaders about this crisis is that we are continually being required to solve problems which we have never encountered before and for which we have no training or experience. The added challenge for Highfields as a standalone school is that if one of us doesn’t think of it, it doesn’t get thought of.
Our current priority is to provide a much higher quality of parents’ evening. We are therefore investing heavily in tools that can help us do this. School leaders will take care of almost every aspect of this operation, but we do need parents/carers to do one thing for us.

We need you to access/download Weduc and get it working on whatever device you favour. Both of my kids’ schools have (different) communications apps (School Jotter/MyEd/Satchel One) and both have had their ups and downs. I have always felt it was crucial for me to persevere and ensure that as a parent I am connected to the school in a way which allows them to communicate effectively.
I am aware that parents/carers often prefer to stick to whatever comms suits them (email/social media/text) but from a communications point of view schools always benefit when there is a single point of contact. In our case we want this to be Weduc. Please look out for Weduc and ensure that you take any offer you can to download it and get using it. This is a really practical way in which you can support us and your children. We will soon hope to be using it to offer full virtual parents’ evenings.
I’m sorry that this is a short and rather bossy update, but your help would be appreciated.
Have a marvellous weekend if you can in these difficult times…
We are Highfields.
