Road to Wimbledon

On Saturday 10 July Highfields students took park in the Road to Wimbledon tennis finals for Derbyshire at Chesterfield Lawn Tennis Club.

Year 7 and 8 students Harry W, Ethan B, Lindon M, Sophie W and Charlotte B were involved along with Lawrence H in year 9 who qualified through winning the tournament at his club. Congratulations to Lawrence for reaching his age groups semi-finals 7-6, 7-6 in a 2 hour 15 minute epic match!

On Saturday, I went along to supportHighfields students in the Under 14 Road to Wimbledon CountyFinals after their win and runner up in the Highfields event.

Not everyone made it to Sunday’s eventfor various reasons, but the students involvedreally enjoyed their experience and put on a good show-they are now wanting to take lessons in the holiday.

Welldone to everyone involved and to Charlotte who also made it into Sheffield Wednesday football team in the morning before this event!
