Highfields School is fortunate in the kinds of people who have volunteered to become governors, each bringing a variety of skills and experience to support the school.

Highfields governing board has a strong focus on three core strategic functions: ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its students, and the performance management of staff, and overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
All governors are required to: undertake appropriate induction training prepare for and attend all meetings regularly undertake further training to develop their skills

Legislation came into force on 1 June 2021 to reduce the number of school days by one day (for this academic year only) to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Thursday 21 July 2022 is in lieu of the additional bank holiday for the Platinum Jubilee falling during the June school holiday week.
