Eco-conscious Food Club

CALLING ALL YEAR 8s ... a new eco-conscious Food Club is coming to Highfields! Did you know... 6.7 million tonnes of food is wasted in the UK every year? That is roughly £250-£400 wasted by each family per year on average. The amount of food we waste is astonishing; so we would like to develop a way to reduce food waste and help families save money by not wasting food.

We want you to help us with this; we have an initial idea but need student input to help develop and trial recipes and other ideas. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please email Miss Poundall (lpoundall@highfields.derbyshire.sch.uk) to express an interest. The club will start after half term and will run at the start of Wednesday lunch times in T3.

Performing Arts Clubs

Performing arts clubs are running during lunchtime and after school from 3.30-4.30pm as we are working towards a summer performance.

Friday Year 9 Drama - Lower site club will be in the performing arts mobile and upper site club will be in P1. All lunchtime clubs require students to bring lunch or have canteen food at break to allow time in the shortened lunch break.

Sports Clubs

The PE department are trialling extra-curricular sports activities in the form of ‘sports pods’ taking place on the following days after school:

After school 3.30-4.00pm Students participating should get changed in the changing rooms at the end of the school day ready to start the session at 3.30pm. Sessions will be a mix for all abilities/genders and run for an hour, finishing at 4.30pm. Activities will be decided on the evening.

Guitar lessons

Nick Davis teaches guitar at Highfields and with has space for new students now year 11s are no longer in school.
