Parent/carer update
Year 7 virtual parents evening
The year 7 parent consultation evening is scheduled for Tuesday 22 March from 4-7pm and will be held virtually using the SchoolCloud platform through Weduc. Parents/carers will need to have downloaded the Weduc app to access parents’ evening appointments.

Appointments can be made by logging on to the Weduc app, clicking on ‘resources hub’ then ‘parents evening’. The appointment system will be open from 4pm on Friday 11 March until 4pm on Monday 21 March to book times with subject teachers. Please ensure that your video and microphone are compatible with the software.
We are limited to an allocated five minute appointment time and at the end of the five minutes the call will be closed to allow the next student and parents/carers to join. Teachers do not have the ability to extend the time of virtual appointments. In order to cope with this, we suggest that if there are specific things you would like to cover during the session then you mention them at the start, so you know that time can be given to them.
Non-uniform day fundraising – Friday 18 March
As you will be aware we are fundraising again on Friday 18 March and asking students to donate £1 to come to school in non-uniform for the day.
We have decided to combine Red Nose Day fundraising and support for the Ukraine on the same day and split the donations equally for both. To support the Ukraine we are encouraging students to wear yellow and blue as part of non-uniform day if they wish.
We are always proud of the support Highfields parents/carers, students and staff give to our charity events and would like to thank you in advance for your support.
Ukraine appeal update
The reaction from the public appeal for donations for Ukrainian refugees nationally has been so massive that most appeals are now overwhelmed with donations.
As a result, we are finding the logistics of getting the donations out to those that need them most a challenge. Work is ongoing on how to resolve this backlog, however, until this has been solved, please can we ask that you do not send any further donations of clothes, bedding, food, sanitary equipment etc to school.
We are extremely grateful to the Highfields community for the donations we have received so far and we will ensure your donations reach those that need them as soon as we can. Thank you again for your continued support.
Reminder: Parent governor vacancy
As you will be aware, we are seeking nominations from any parent/carer with children currently attending Highfields School, who is interested in joining Highfields School’s governing board.
If you are eligible and would like to be nominated as a parent governor, please refer to the information issued via Weduc outlining the role of a governor and the nomination process. All nominations must be received in school by 10am on Thursday 17 March.
Y10 mock exams
We would like to give year 10 parents/carers an early reminder of the Y10 mock exams scheduled to take place after Easter from 3-13 May. The exams will be held in the sports hall and follow the same process as Y11 GCSE exams would, this is to give students the experience of what it will be like sitting their summer GCSE exams next year.
The mocks are important as they provide an opportunity for students to review the work they have done so far and give an indication to staff of what they know. Subject staff will be basing homework around revision to support students in their preparation, and students will be given further information on the process over the coming weeks. In the meantime, we would appreciate it if you could discuss with your child about their preparation for these mocks.
