Students can also find paid-for programmes such as InvestIN's Future Doctor Programme.

The virtual WEX placements are all on the special opportunities tool. You can find the tool in the 'Searching for opportunities' section of the Student homepage.

Once you've selected which country you're from, the tool asks which country you're interested in searching opportunities from. To find all the virtual WEX opportunities, select 'Online/ Worldwide'

You then select up to 10 subject areas you're interested in and click through to the longlist. From here, you can create a shortlist of up to 10 opportunities. Your shortlist gives you information about what to expect from the placement and how to apply for it.

Free Virtual Work Experience for whole year groups – Speakers for Schools

The Experience programme from Speakers for Schools have a fantastic virtual work experience opportunity for students from Highfields School.

Virtual STEM Careers and Skills Week – 20 online sessions with unlimited places at one of the world’s most prestigious science and engineering firms!

If students want to find out more about careers in science, technology, engineering and sustainability, between 7-11 December, Speakers for Schools have partnered with one of the world’s biggest science and engineering firms, Johnson Matthey, to run a virtual skills and careers week. Each evening, scientists, engineers and other professionals from across the firm will be running a range of one-hour careers information events, including:

Finance; Law; Engineering; Tech Start-Ups; Scientific Research; Information Technology (IT); Graduate and Apprenticeship Schemes; Strategy and Business Development; Human Resources (HR)

They will also be offering skills sessions, helping students to understand the importance of the following skills for their own futures:

Job applications; Resilience; Communication; Problem solving; Sustainability; Social value of science; Biases and stereotypes; Career success; Career searching.

Speakers for Schools live broadcast with Gareth Southgate

Speakers for Schools have announced an upcoming live broadcast for football fans everywhere! Join England football Manager and author of Anything is Possible, Gareth Southgate, and Youtube gamer and entertainer, Sharky.

In this event, England football Manager and author of Anything is Possible, Gareth Southgate, is joined by Youtube gamer and entertainer, Sharky, to reflect on the experiences and lessons of Gareth’s career. He will share how young people can thrive and make the most of their lives, by being brave, being kind and following their dreams.

The talk will be webinar style and so attendees will not have their cameras or microphones on. There will be a Q&A chat function where students can ask their questions, which will be moderated by Penguin staff.

Gareth Southgate has had a playing career spanning 500 senior appearances. He has represented England 57 times, captained both Aston Villa and Middlesbrough to League Cup final success, and is currently England manager of the senior men’s team. His new book ‘Anything is Possible’, is about how to achieve your dreams and ambitions.
