Sports Leaders News
Our sports leaders are usually extremely busy supporting sporting activities not only in school, but also within our partner primary schools and across the wider community. This year for the start of the year initially we are looking at alternative ways for our sports leaders to work and we will update you in our newsletter.

Sports Leaders Update
Our year 10 students received their awards for Sports Leadership this week – well done to:
Male leader – Evan
Female leader – Sophie
Health ambassador awards – Lucy, Sophie, Eleanor and Georgina
These awards, along with others would have been presented at the annual awards evening which was cancelled in April.

Our year 10 level 1 sports leaders session on Wednesday 25 November was a valuable theory session rather than a practical to allow for the year 11 mocks to take place in the sports hall this week.
New projects
Mrs Allen has recently attended webinars on two new projects for Highfields.
The Boys Move project – this is the male version of the long standing Girls Active National programme. The new project will involve a group of boys in year 7 to raise attitudes to learning. Highfields has also been invited to try the Skills Tracker programme that monitors the five core skills of all the Sports Leadership programmes.
School Sports Co-ordinator Events
Mrs Allen has been busy attending several virtual events – the ‘well led’ live Youth Sport Trust health and wellbeing Zoom session on Monday; the Youth Sport Trust ‘school sport in uncertain times’ event on Thursday along with the ‘primary leaders’ Sports Leaders UK webinar.
Whole school extra-curricular sports clubs
The PE department are running the following clubs for students across both sites. These are much reduced to what would usually be on offer but are compliant with the latest Covid-19 guidance. Full details are available from the PE department.
