Match Report Highfields vs East Leake Academy
Mr Waller
Result: East Leake 5 - 2 Highfields
The year 8 boys team journeyed to East Leake Academy for the next instalment of the ESFA Cup. They met their first serious test of the competition so far and, unfortunately, were knocked out by a solid East Leake side.
The first goal for Highfields occurred when Maxwell ran on to a careless back pass to slot home past the goalkeeper. The second was a net busting free kick from debutant Elliot who was one of the shining stars on what was a very hard game for the away side.
On to the next game with a lot of lessons learnt from this defeat.
Highfields vs Dronfield Henry Fanshaw – Y11
Mr Shirtcliffe
The year 11 boys travelled to Dronfield Henry Fanshaw School in the football County Cup first round. The team led by Mr Roberts more than matched the opposition, it was a very nip and tuck first half with both teams creating excellent chances unfortunately Dronfield converted one just before half time.
After a thorough team talk they went out and dominated the second half, scoring a goal only to have it chalked off for half time. Then we squandered chance after chance before scoring a well worked goal from Louis, then with the thought of penalties overhead, we managed to score a scrappy goal from a corner in the last seconds converted by Mitch to progress to the next round of the county cup.
Great performance great Highfields determinations - well done.
Highfields vs Dronfield Henry Fanshaw – Y7
Mr Searson
Our year 7 team took part in the Derbyshire County Schools Cup at Dronfield on Thursday. The boys were faced with a very difficult task against the strong and physical Dronfield side.
Unfortunately, the lads were on the wrong side of the result in the end, but a great learning experience for all which they’ll definitely take a lot from.
James and Harvey came closest to grabbing goals, but a couple of good saves and near misses prevented this - well done to all the boys involved!
