ON-SITE FILLING STATIONS Many companies can benefit from the installation of an on-site filling station. It helps to save money and time as these systems enable fuelling at any time without the need for public gas stations. Additionally, price fluctuations may be better taken advantage of by purchasing larger fuel volumes for even more benefits.
Rietberg fuel supply systems are designed according to DIN and are therefore approved as regulated construction products for above-ground storage of fuels and mineral oils like petrol, diesel and fuel oil.

Hot-dip galvanised on the inside and outside: The components of Rietberg containers are individually hot-dip galvanised on the inside and outside. They receive a zinc coating of at least 55 μm according to DIN EN ISO 1461. As in Germany annual zinc abrasion of approx. 1 μm is taken into account according to DIN EN ISO 14713-1, the products are corrosion-protected for decades. Hot dip galvanisation provides the surface with cathodic self-protection against corrosion in case of minor damage and is extremely abrasion-resistant.

Their benefits › Manufactured according to DIN 6624/DIN 6616 with German approval for storage of diesel/fuel oil or other fire-resistant fluids, i.e. media with a flash point above 55 °C, and other water-polluting fluids of all water hazard classes › Installation in buildings and outdoors › Double-walled design for installation of several tanks next to each other without any gaps. No storage space for collection of fluids is required › Full steel design for extreme durability and long service life › The containers are hot-dip galvanised on the inside and outside for optimum protection against corrosion. FUELLING AREAS In many sectors like agriculture, construction, industry or transport, in-house filling stations offer practical advantages. Trips to public gas stations are no longer required. This saves time and purchasing large quantities saves money. Rietberg fuel filling stations provide a secure area for fuelling of vehicles and storage containers in compliance with all applicable legal regulations. The general technical approval Z-38.5155 enables outdoor and indoor installation. Oil separators are not required. Rietberg fuel filling stations are available in different versions and offers numerous options for setting up the fuel system according to individual requirements. For further information, please refer to the following pages. In combination with an approved storage tank, (e.g. Rietberg storage tanks, KA series, refer to page 16), these products offer a fully approved on-site filling station for diesel. Of course, already existing storage containers can be easily combined with a fuel filling area. The system can be set-up on any level surface with sufficient load-bearing capacity. Construction measures are generally not required. If required, e.g. for repositioning, the system can be easily disassembled.

REQUIREMENTS FOR DIESEL ON-SITE FILLING STATIONS ACCORDING TO TRWS 781 (GERMANY) Meaning and components On-site filling stations are not accessible to the public and are intended for fuelling of company vehicles and equipment like agricultural machinery with low storage volume and annual throughput. They are only operated by the operator or personnel instructed by the operator. The definition of "low consumption" is to be taken from the applicable national and state regulations (North RhineWestphalia in Germany, max. capacity 10 m³). On-site filling stations consist of an above-ground storage container, a discharge unit and a filling area – e.g., the Rietberg fuel filling station for indoor and outdoor installation.

MOBILE FUEL SYSTEMS FUELLING EVERYWHERE AND AT ANY TIME! Mobile fuel systems are essentials for the fuelling of machinery and power units. Independent of the location: whether on construction sites, during forestry work, on fields or in stone pits, fuelling of machinery and equipment should be possible quickly and safely on site. Rietberg steel fuel containers offer the best possible levels of safety and flexibility for this purpose and thus contribute to the minimization of standstill times. This saves time and money.

For the vehicle, no labelling of the hazardous goods transport is required and no hazardous goods equipment is to be kept on board. For typetested IBC and steel packages, additionally, there is no time limitation for use. Furthermore, Rietberg fuel containers are also approved for the storage of fuel.
All Rietberg fuel containers are type-tested and approved as IBC or packaging for the hazardous goods transport with all transport modes. Thus, they can be transported under "simplified

Different options exist for fuelling construction machinery and equipment directly on site. OR › they are used based on the ADR exceptional regulation 1.1.3.1c, also known as so-called “craftsman regulation”, but are not type-tested and do not comprise any approval and may therefore only be used to a very limited extent.
Rietberg fuel containers with approval as IBC or packaging can be universally utilised and may therefore be used for all operations which might be necessary for mobile fuelling. Neither the supply of multiple construction sites nor the drive to the next
service station to get new fuel are a problem any more. Typetested and approved containers are always secure from a technical and legal aspect and always guarantee “free transit”.

FLASHBACK ARRESTOR According to the German Industrial Safety Regulations, the operator is responsible for the safe operation of a system. The Technical Regulations on Industrial Safety (TRBS) offer suitable measures against the existing safety risks. When applying these measures, the operator can assert the assumption of the compliance with the regulations. With respect to the hazards from explosive atmospheres, TRBS 2152, part 4, chapter 7.1 defines the following: “When opening system components in which a hazardous explosive atmosphere is present and which are not designed with sufficient explosion protection, the necessity of a protection of the system parts against the risk of explosion is to be checked.”
This can be necessary e.g. with aeration and ventilation devices, filling level indicator, filling and discharge lines but also with connection lines to other system components.
The Rietberg QUADRO-CV and CONTY-B 330 fuel containers for petrol are equipped with protective gear, i.e. a filling tube with flame arrester (approval PTB Ex 12-42028) and a deflagration arrester for the ventilation line (approval IBExU08ATEX) for your protection.

For transport of hazardous substances, type-tested and approved containers like tankers, tank containers and packaging including intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) are generally required. Rietbergwerke manufacture tank containers, IBCs and packaging. In terms of their capacity, tank containers are theoretically unlimited; IBCs have a maximum capacity of 3,000 litres and packaging is restricted to a capacity of 450 litres. As mentioned, the speciďŹ ed regulations are generally applicable. However, there are diďŹ&#x20AC;erences in application depending on the approval of the container and exceptions. Please note that the conditions for safe transport and universal application are only met by approved containers. To ensure better readability, the term ADR is used in the following to refer to all regulations on transport of hazardous substances.

Marking Packaging and IBCs are to be marked as follows according to ADR chapter 5.2: › The UN no. of the transported substance (e.g. diesel: UN 1202) › The mark for environmentally hazardous substances (fish and tree, black on white surface) › Hazard label (e.g. diesel: no. 3, flame, black or white on red surface) The specified markings have to be attached on two opposite sides of IBCs with a capacity of more than 450 litres and on one side of smaller packaging. Additionally, the containers are to be labelled with substancerelated hazard warnings according to GHS. In addition to the container, we provide a set of adhesive labels for initial marking. Additionally, a pictogram on the ICB specifies whether the container is stackable or not. The following illustration is an example for marking of an IBC for diesel.

is not exceeded. If goods with different transport categories are transported in the same unit, the 1000 points rule applies. For determination of the total score, the volumes of transport category 2 are multiplied by a factor of 3 and the volumes of transport category 3 by a factor of 1. For simplified transport, the total score of 1,000 points must not be exceeded. For example: › Petrol, II, 2: 150 litres x 3 = 450 points › Diesel, III, 3: 500 litres x 1 = 500 points › Total: 950 points Even though numerous ADR regulations do not need to be taken into account for simplified transport, a few rules still have to be observed: › Marking and labelling (ADR chapter 5.2) must be complete and readable › A 2 kg fire extinguisher (ADR section 8.1.4.1 (a)) must be carried. › A shipping document (ADR section 5.4.1) must be carried. Of course, it is also generally required that the container: › is technically intact › is tightly sealed during transport and, as applicable, that repeated inspection and testing have been carried out.
CRAFTSMAN REGULATION This refers to containers which are used based on the exceptional regulation according to ADR 1.1.3.1 c), the so-called “craftsman regulation”. ADR defines various exemptions and exceptional regulations, among others those in connection with the type of transport. For instance, according to subsection 1.1.3.1 c), the provisions of ADR do not apply to “transports which are carried out by companies in connection with their main task”. At the same time, however, direct “internal or external supply operations” are excluded from this exemption. What does that mean? The implementing directives for hazardous goods (RSEB) provide annotations on the ADR and the following definition on subsection 1.1.3.1 c): Section 1-6.1 Exempted are transports for direct use, e.g. › Paint in the vehicle of a painter › Oxygen or acetylene cylinders in the vehicle of a welder › Fuel for filling lawn mowers in the vehicle of a municipal employee Section 1-6.2 Intermediate supplies for fuel systems do not directly fall under the exemption regulation of subsection 1.1.3.1 c). Therefore, one precondition for making use of the so-called “craftsman regulation” is that the fuel (together with the machine) is transported directly in order to be consumed directly, while only residual quantities are transported back again. The “craftsman regulation” does not include transports for distribution purposes, i.e. the supply of multiple machines on different construction sites (supply operations) as well as drives to the next service station (intermediate supplies), for instance. However, the “craftsman regulation” also indicates that containers can be used which are neither type-tested nor comprise a UN approval. Notes on the use of the different container types can be found on page 34 f.

Additionally, the official designation of the (currently) transported substance is to be specified according to ADR paragraph 6.8.2.5.2 as well as the name of the owner and the operator, the capacity and the net weight with the admissible maximum weight. According to ADR subsection 5.3.1.2, large signs (size: 250 x 250 mm, example for diesel: no. 3, flame, black or white on red surface) have to be attached to both sides. According to ADR section 5.3.6, large signs (250 x 250 mm) with the mark for environmentally hazardous substances must be attached on both sides. According to ADR section 5.3.2, orange marking is to be applied. This may be a warning sign or an adhesive label [size: 400 x 300 mm, example for diesel: top 30 (substance-specific number for hazard marking), bottom 1202 (UN number for diesel)]. Together with the container, we provide everything required for initial marking.

Whether on construction sites in winter, in festival tents or in industrial operations, power units or heaters are essential for maintaining the power supply or for ventilating or dehumidifying storage and production facilities. However, these power units or heaters must be supplied with diesel or fuel oil in order to function. Rietberg QUADRO-AG fuel containers are specially designed for professional fuel supply directly at the location of use. They are approved as intermediate bulk containers (IBC) and enable transport under "simplified conditions" according to ADR 1.1.3.6 including supply operations. Utilisation is not restricted as is the case for other standard mobile fuel systems. For type-tested plastic IBCs or composite IBCs (steel with interior plastic container), the duration of use is limited to 5 years. For transport of up to 1,000 litres of diesel, no ADR certificate and no hazardous substance marking of vehicles and equipment is required. This product can be used for decades without any problems. Even for the storage of fuels like diesel and fuel oil, Rietberg fuel containers are the perfect choice of storage containers thanks to their general technical approval. QUADRO-AG containers are also suitable for application outdoors and in water protection areas. CASCADING SYSTEM The Rietberg cascading system is the ideal solution for systems with high flow rates and/or long operating times. This system enables combination of multiple tanks into a major unit via one centralised master tank. The central component is a master tank that looks like a conventional tank from the outside 1 . Its storage box securely holds a durable dispensing pump with intelligent control filling this tank from the other tanks. This offers the special feature of free selection of the sizes and models of the connected tanks. Up to 4 units can be connected in parallel. This allows for numerous combinations for individual applications. On connection of a power unit 2 , the master tank can be practically positioned close to the consumer. Due to the required feed and return lines, this distance is usually to be minimised to protect the diesel pump of the motor. The downstream tanks may be positioned at a greater distance, e.g. for convenient access with tankers.
Sufficient diesel cooling is ensured by the relatively even filling level in the master tank. The respective switching points can be provided with a password for access by the user and easily adjusted to the individual conditions. The supply tanks 3 (any type, e.g. QUADRO-AG series, page 66, or KA, page 16) are discharged by the master tank via intelligent control to ensure sufficient supply to the consumer. If the downstream tanks are emptied increasingly, a signal is available which provides the operator with a sufficient, adjustable time window for punctual refilling. The Rietberg cascading system does not require complex filling level monitoring of the individual supply tanks and is particularly fail-safe. Additional protection mechanisms and control settings ensure smooth operation. This way, minor faults in a tank may be compensated by the master tank without failure of the system to be supplied. The respective tank is requested with a delay to ensure that the capacity of the available tanks is fully used.

For transport of hazardous substances, type-tested and approved containers like tankers, tank containers and packaging including intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) are generally required. Rietbergwerke manufacture tank containers, IBCs and packaging. In terms of their capacity, tank containers are theoretically unlimited; IBCs have a maximum capacity of 3,000 litres and packaging is restricted to a capacity of 450 litres. As mentioned, the speciďŹ ed regulations are generally applicable. However, there are diďŹ&#x20AC;erences in application depending on the approval of the container and exceptions. Please note that the conditions for safe transport and universal application are only met by approved containers. To ensure better readability, the term ADR is used in the following to refer to all regulations on transport of hazardous substances.

is not exceeded. If goods with different transport categories are transported in the same unit, the 1000 points rule applies. For determination of the total score, the volumes of transport category 2 are multiplied by a factor of 3 and the volumes of transport category 3 by a factor of 1. For simplified transport, the total score of 1,000 points must not be exceeded. For example: › Petrol, II, 2: 150 litres x 3 = 450 points › Diesel, III, 3: 500 litres x 1 = 500 points › Total: 950 points Even though numerous ADR regulations do not need to be taken into account for simplified transport, a few rules still have to be observed: › Marking and labelling (ADR chapter 5.2) must be complete and readable › A 2 kg fire extinguisher (ADR section 8.1.4.1 (a)) must be carried. › A shipping document (ADR section 5.4.1) must be carried. Of course, it is also generally required that the container: › is technically intact › is tightly sealed during transport and, as applicable, that repeated inspection and testing have been carried out.
CRAFTSMAN REGULATION This refers to containers which are used based on the exceptional regulation according to ADR 1.1.3.1 c), the so-called “craftsman regulation”. ADR defines various exemptions and exceptional regulations, among others those in connection with the type of transport. For instance, according to subsection 1.1.3.1 c), the provisions of ADR do not apply to “transports which are carried out by companies in connection with their main task”. At the same time, however, direct “internal or external supply operations” are excluded from this exemption. What does that mean? The implementing directives for hazardous goods (RSEB) provide annotations on the ADR and the following definition on subsection 1.1.3.1 c): Section 1-6.1 Exempted are transports for direct use, e.g. › Paint in the vehicle of a painter › Oxygen or acetylene cylinders in the vehicle of a welder › Fuel for filling lawn mowers in the vehicle of a municipal employee Section 1-6.2 Intermediate supplies for fuel systems do not directly fall under the exemption regulation of subsection 1.1.3.1 c). Therefore, one precondition for making use of the so-called “craftsman regulation” is that the fuel (together with the machine) is transported directly in order to be consumed directly, while only residual quantities are transported back again. The “craftsman regulation” does not include transports for distribution purposes, i.e. the supply of multiple machines on different construction sites (supply operations) as well as drives to the next service station (intermediate supplies), for instance. However, the “craftsman regulation” also indicates that containers can be used which are neither type-tested nor comprise a UN approval. Notes on the use of the different container types can be found on page 34 f.

Additionally, the official designation of the (currently) transported substance is to be specified according to ADR paragraph 6.8.2.5.2 as well as the name of the owner and the operator, the capacity and the net weight with the admissible maximum weight. According to ADR subsection 5.3.1.2, large signs (size: 250 x 250 mm, example for diesel: no. 3, flame, black or white on red surface) have to be attached to both sides. According to ADR section 5.3.6, large signs (250 x 250 mm) with the mark for environmentally hazardous substances must be attached on both sides. According to ADR section 5.3.2, orange marking is to be applied. This may be a warning sign or an adhesive label [size: 400 x 300 mm, example for diesel: top 30 (substance-specific number for hazard marking), bottom 1202 (UN number for diesel)]. MULTI-TANKS & STORAGE TANKS Depending on the safety objective, e.g. occupational safety, fire and explosion safety or environmental protection, there are regulations for set-up and operation of means of storage for hazardous substances. The regulations are included in various laws, regulations and technical rules that have to be fully observed. Rietberg storage containers have been particularly developed for above-ground collection and storage of all types of water-polluting fluids. They also comply with all regulations applicable for storage of non-flammable, fire-resistant and flammable, easily flammable and highly flammable fluids. Rietberg storage containers enable proper, safe and appropriate collection and storage. Rietberg storage containers feature a double-walled design and
are equipped with off-grid vacuum leakage indicator at both walls to also meet the requirements for installation in water protection areas. They offer low-maintenance and durable leakage monitoring without the need for any power connection. The containers are available in sizes for 400 to 16,000 litres and are suitable for indoor and outdoor installation. Thanks to the double-walled design, the collection space or tray otherwise specified is not required, eliminating the related maintenance costs. The standard models are hot-dip galvanised on the inside and outside according to DIN EN ISO 1461 (only cylindrical containers) for optimum corrosion protection. For adjustment to structural conditions like the utilization of recesses, multi-tanks are available with a variable jacket height between 530 and 1500 mm. With a constant surface area, the total height and the capacity of the container are adjusted. The container height up to the upper base is defined by the jacket height +100 mm and the total container height (leakage indicator top edge) by the jacket height +260 mm. Multi-tanks may also be installed in flood areas. For this purpose, the containers are equipped with a dipstick instead of a filling level indicator. Especially approved and certified anchor elements are used to secure the containers against the lifting forces in case of flooding. This way, installation is possible up to flooding of 3.0 m above floor level.

OVERFILL PROTECTION If containers are filled in such a way that the filling level cannot be identified (i.e. via a fixed line), it has to be ensured that the container cannot be overfilled. LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR STORAGE CONTAINERS The requirements for installation of storage containers for water-polluting, non-flammable substances, fire-resistant (formerly technical rules for flammable fluids TRbF AIII) and flammable fluids are defined for Germany in the ordinance on industrial safety and health (BetrSichV) of the technical rules for operating safety (TRBS) and the ordinance on installations for the handling of substances hazardous to water (VAwS). The Vd-TÜV datasheet 967 for fuel systems is regarded as the state of the art and is to be observed. Building and fire protection regulations may also be applicable.
According to the German ordinance on installations for the handling of substances hazardous to water (VAwS) VAwS for North Rhine-Westphalia specifies a reporting requirement for above-ground systems as of hazard level B (may deviate in other states). The hazard level is defined by the water hazard class of the storage medium and the storage capacity (table of VAwS).

General installation requirements According to VAwS, systems have to prevent leakage of waterpolluting substances. Systems have to be tight, stable and sufficiently resistant against mechanical, thermal and chemical loads to be expected. Any leakage has to be identified quickly and reliably and leaking substances have to be retained. Operating-related occurring drip losses must be collected. The systems have to be installed on a suitably firm surface. A collision buffer is to be provided as necessary. For double-walled containers, no collection trays are required. Otherwise, the following applies: Mixtures potentially containing water-polluting substances leaking in case of damage have to be retained. The collection capacity of the storage space has to correspond to the maximum volume of the substances that may leak in case of malfunctions.
Installation For systems with fire-resistant fluids, no clearances to buildings are required. For systems with flammable fluids, a clearance of 10 m to buildings has to be observed if these are not sufficiently protected against fire (F90 according to DIN 4102). In case of indoor installation, walls, ceilings and doors have to consist of non-flammable materials. Between storage spaces and neighbouring rooms, fire-resistant (F90 according to DIN 4102) partitions are required. Ventilation has to permanently ensure at least 5-fold air exchange. Inspection In North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, systems of hazard level B outside of water protection areas and all systems in water protection areas require inspection prior to commissioning. Systems for fire-resistant fluids with a capacity of 10 m³ do not need inspection if they are installed by a qualified company with respective certification. Systems for fire-resistant fluids with a capacity of up to 10,000 litres do not require repeated inspection (1 m³ in water protection areas, 5 m³ for fuel oil). Systems for flammable fluids and a capacity of more than 10 m³ (content of all containers) require inspection by a qualified professional in intervals of five years. Local authorities may specify further requirements. In other states, the regulations may deviate. Operation Storage containers may only be filled via a fixed pipeline connection with overfill protection. (Containers with a capacity of up to 1,000 litres are an exception and may also be filled via an automatically closing discharge nozzle). Rietberg collection containers with filling funnel may be intermittently filled with low volumes without overfill protection. Operating-related occurring drip losses must be collected. Obligations of the operator As of a system capacity of more than 1 m³, the operator is required to prepare a system description with monitoring, servicing and alarm schemes for definition of operating instructions specifying all measures required for operation. Rietberg containers do not require maintenance. However, containers and equipment have to be regularly checked for potential damage. The system may only be operated in proper condition. The leakage indicator and potential overfill protection require inspection according to the operating instructions.

Approval According to Germany ordinance on industrial safety and health (BetrSichV) According to the BetrSichV, storage of fluids with a flash point above 55 °C does not require any approval. MULTI-COLLECTORS, WASTE OIL COLLECTORS, HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE DEPOT AND HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE COLLECTOR For safe collection and storage of hazardous substances, containers with appropriate safety functions for effective prevention of emission of these substances are indispensable. During a single working day, considerable volumes of waste fluids may accrue that require practical collection and storage in compliance with regulations. Rietberg storage containers have been particularly developed for above-ground collection and storage of all types of waterpolluting fluids. Depending on the type/version, they comply with all regulations applicable for storage of non-flammable, fire resistant and flammable, easily flammable and highly flammable fluids. Rietberg storage containers enable proper, safe and appropriate collection and storage. Rietberg collection containers feature a double-walled design and are equipped with off-grid vacuum leakage indicator at both walls to also meet the requirements for water protection areas. They offer low-maintenance and durable leakage monitoring without the need for any power connection. The containers are
available in sizes for 250 to 10,000 litres and are suitable for indoor and outdoor installation. Thanks to the double-walled design, the collection space or tray otherwise specified is not required, eliminating the related maintenance costs. The standard models are hot-dip galvanised on the inside and outside according to DIN EN ISO 1461 for optimum corrosion protection. The tanks are also available with coating or in stainless steel to meet individual requirements of substances to be stored. Rietberg collection containers are also available as "mobile" models. These models are specially equipped for in-house transport by forklift truck. This way, the collection tank can be easily positioned where substances to be collected occur. This reduces the risk of spilling of hazardous fluids due to incorrect in-house transport. We also design special systems according to individual demands. Waste oil collector installation The illustrated waste oil storage facility was installed at a recognised manufacturer of deep-draw components. It was particularly important that the containers can easily be filled. Additionally, the filling level was to be safely monitored for timely discharge of waste fluids at the manufacturing machinery. The system consists of four containers with a capacity of 5,000 litres each. They are filled via funnels that are easily accessible via a central control platform. Additionally, extraction units used in the facility can be directly connected to the tanks via dry couplings and convey into the tanks. This enables quick and clean draining of extraction units. The filling level is monitored via hydrostatic probes. The filling levels are displayed on indicators on a control panel. If the programmed level is reached, a notification is sent by text message. This way, disposal companies can be notified in time and draining of the containers can be arranged.

OVERFILL PROTECTION If containers are filled in such a way that the filling level cannot be identified (i.e. via a fixed line), it has to be ensured that the container cannot be overfilled. Overfill protection generally includes the following two components: › Level sensor permanently mounted in the container with a PTC thermistor changing its electrical resistance on reaching the admissible filling level. › Transducer generating an optical and acoustic signal from this change in resistance for stopping the filling process. LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR STORAGE CONTAINERS (GERMANY) The requirements for installation of storage containers for water-polluting, non-flammable substances, fire-resistant (formerly technical rules for flammable fluids TRbF AIII) and flammable fluids are defined for Germany in the ordinance on industrial safety and health (BetrSichV) of the technical rules for operating safety (TRBS) and the ordinance on installations for the handling of substances hazardous to water (VAwS). The Vd-TÜV datasheet 967 for fuel systems is regarded as the state of the art and is to be observed. Building and fire protection regulations may also be applicable.
According to the German ordinance on installations for the handling of substances hazardous to water (VAwS) VAwS for North Rhine-Westphalia specifies a reporting requirement for above-ground systems as of hazard level B (may deviate in other states). The hazard level is defined by the water hazard class of the storage medium and the storage capacity (table of VAwS).

General installation requirements According to VAwS, systems have to prevent leakage of waterpolluting substances. Systems have to be tight, stable and sufficiently resistant against mechanical, thermal and chemical loads to be expected. Any leakage has to be identified quickly and reliably and leaking substances have to be retained. Operating-related occurring drip losses must be collected. The systems have to be installed on a suitably firm surface. A collision buffer is to be provided as necessary. For double-walled containers, no collection trays are required. Otherwise, the following applies: Mixtures potentially containing water-polluting substances leaking in case of damage have to be retained. The collection capacity of the storage space has to correspond to the maximum volume of the substances that may leak in case of malfunctions.
Installation For systems with fire-resistant fluids, no clearances to buildings are required. For systems with flammable fluids, a clearance of 10 m to buildings has to be observed if these are not sufficiently protected against fire (F90 according to DIN 4102). In case of indoor installation, walls, ceilings and doors have to consist of non-flammable materials. Between storage spaces and neighbouring rooms, fire-resistant (F90 according to DIN 4102) partitions are required. Ventilation has to permanently ensure at least 5-fold air exchange. Inspection In North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, systems of hazard level B outside of water protection areas and all systems in water protection areas require inspection prior to commissioning. Systems for fire-resistant fluids with a capacity of 10 m³ do not need inspection if they are installed by a qualified company with respective certification. Systems for fire-resistant fluids with a capacity of up to 10,000 litres do not require repeated inspection (1 m³ in water protection areas, 5 m³ for fuel oil). Systems for flammable fluids and a capacity of more than 10 m³ (content of all containers) require inspection by a qualified professional in intervals of five years. Local authorities may specify further requirements. In other states, the regulations may deviate. Operation Storage containers may only be filled via a fixed pipeline connection with overfill protection. (Containers with a capacity of up to 1,000 litres are an exception and may also be filled via an automatically closing discharge nozzle). Rietberg collection containers with filling funnel may be intermittently filled with low volumes without overfill protection. Operating-related occurring drip losses must be collected. Obligations of the operator As of a system capacity of more than 1 m³, the operator is required to prepare a system description with monitoring, servicing and alarm schemes for definition of operating instructions specifying all measures required for operation. Rietberg containers do not require maintenance. However, containers and equipment have to be regularly checked for potential damage. The system may only be operated in proper condition. The leakage indicator and potential overfill protection require inspection according to the operating instructions.

Approval According to Germany ordinance on industrial safety and health (BetrSichV) According to the BetrSichV, storage of fluids with a flash point above 55 °C does not require any approval. According to the BetrSichV, an approval is required for storage of more than 450 litres of flammable liquids. CONTAINER ON DIN 30722 FRAME For supply and/or disposal of fluids, tanks may be installed on DIN 30722 frames. Depending on the application, the tanks can be equipped with various accessories. The top figure illustrates a supply container for oil and the figure on the left a container with a high-performance intake pump for collecting hazardous fluids in case of emergency. Both tanks are used by the in-house fire service of a refinery.

DIESEL SUPPLY CONTAINERS KA Storage containers for diesel supply to pump systems. Equipped with longitudinal skids under the supports as well as brackets for towing the container. The container is also equipped with brackets for lifting if empty. All openings are tightly sealed. Connection to the pump system is realised via flexible stainless steel hoses with dry couplings.

FUEL SYSTEM KA 7500 Storage tank with a capacity of 7,500 litres stored in a maritime container. Thanks to reinforcements in the floor of the container, the system can be relocated in an empty state. Since the system has been installed in a harbour, the version has been implemented with a corresponding level of ruggedness. Relocation is required e.g. in the event of a possible flooding of the harbour area. The system has been equipped and delivered in an operationally ready state.

The system includes a storage container with a capacity of 3,000 to 10,000 litres, a calibratable or non-calibratable discharge unit, a tray with grating overlay for ergonomic canister filling and a roof.
