Russell Vullo Mercer University (478) 301-2409 Mercer University asked HGOR to assist in visioning pedestrian and aesthetic upgrades in the area comprising the South Campus Athletics Precinct and Entry. The opening of a new football stadium in the Fall of 2013 dramatically shifted previous circulation patterns and has resulted in an increase of visitors approaching campus from the south via Mercer Boulevard. Recommendations included rerouting and connecting walks, providing enhanced seating and viewing opportunities for baseball and volleyball, enhancements to the stadium arrival and transforming a detention facility into usable green space with an infiltration based rain garden. The plan recommendations were endorsed by the University who retained HGOR to further develop the recommendations for immediate implementation. Construction began in the Spring of 2014 with scheduled completion by August of the same year.
