About seven of us split 1,500 Baht (SG$60) on transport. It’s cheaper to hire a pick-up truck. One year we spent 1,000 Baht (S$40) on one for the day. We bought a garbage bin, filled it with water and partied on the back of the truck. There were hundreds of other pick-up trucks carrying people, all water-fighting. We
jumped from truck to truck – music blasted and people danced.” Bangkok’s streets will be packed with revellers around 10am, and get increasingly crowded as families spill out of the temples and onto the streets for the processions and water fights. Silom Road and Khao San Road are not for the faint-hearted, as that’s where the most intense antics go on all day and into the night – so bear this in mind when it comes to your travel plans.
