Alliance Defending Freedom is a legal organisation which seeks to advocate for people to freely live out their faith.

ADF employs a unique strategy of training, legal aid, documentation and research

Trainings In close partnership with Indian allied mission organizations and allied attorneys, we have conducted over 100 one-day training modules for close to 4000 lawyers and social activists. The training has focused on creating awareness of human rights, constitutional and other legal provisions related to religious freedom, speech and expression, and right to life. The training aims at equipping the church in India to respond to violence through appropriate and timely legal interventions.

Outcome On September 29, 2008, a mob of fundamentalists shouting communal slogans, ransacked a Christian village. In one home, the Christian occupants were able to flee to the nearby forest, while the mob stole their belongings and then burned the home. The Orissa legal aid cell worked with the prosecution and the three mob ring leaders were criminally convicted and sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined.

Legal Aid Alliance Defending Freedom, India has worked with clients with a special focus on discriminatory and draconian laws and against violence against religious minorities and other vulnerable communities. Victims were assisted in over 200 cases.

Documentation & Research To deepen understanding on religious persecution in India, ADF undertakes comprehensive reporting and documentation from the field. Law student training | ADF India in Delhi
