AVOID INJURY FROM BACKOVER ACCIDENTS

Before moving machine, be sure all persons are clear of the area.

Be alert for bystanders moving into the work area. Sound the horn to signal bystanders before moving the machine. When using a signal person, keep the person in view at all times. Make sure the signal person is clear before backing up. To avoid backover accidents:

Look around before you back up. Be sure that everyone is clear. Make sure the motion alarm is in working condition. The motion alarm must sound when the machine is moving in forward or reverse. Use a signal person when backing up if the view is obstructed. Keep the signal person in view. Learn the meaning of all flags, signs and markings on the job site and who is responsible for signalling. Keep windows, mirrors and lights in good condition.

Dust, heavy rain, fog, snow etc. can reduce visibility. As visibility decreases, reduce speed and use proper lighting.

OPERATING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

THE AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEM AND ITS RELATED COMPONENTS ARE APPLICABLE TO TIER 4F ENGINES ONLY.

Turn OFF the engine when refuelling. Do not ULTRA LOW SULFUR refuel the machine or work on the fuel system 36686AUNI R0 FUEL ONLY while smoking or near flames or sparks. Attach a grounding strap to an unpainted metal surface on the machine if the refuelling tank or nozzle is so equipped. Check that no other personnel have moved into a hazardous area before starting the machine. Sound the horn to signal bystanders before starting the machine.

The operator's seat is equipped with lap and shoulder harness belts. Use both of these restraint systems at all times when operating the machine. START the engine by following the instructions in this manual. Refer to OPERATING MACHINE in SECTION 2 of the OPERATOR’S MANUAL.

Never use a liquid starting aid to START the engine. This machine is equipped with a computer controlled heating element in the engine intake system. Starting fluids will explode on contact with the heating element.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) may irritate eyes or skin. Do not get in eyes. Do not get on skin. First Aid treatment: DEF contains Urea. If swallowed call a Poison Control Centre or doctor immediately. Do not induce vomiting. If in eyes rinse with water for 15 minutes. If on skin rinse well with water. If irritation persists seek medical treatment.

WARNING

Use only diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) which meets ISO 22241 specifications. Never fill the DEF tank with any other fluid. DEF is injected into the exhaust gas stream during normal operation of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) aftertreatment system. Use of other fluids may cause component damage, or a fire risk which could result in death or serious injury.
