AssemblyInstructions
from Raymond Forklift RJ50-N & RJ50-P Hand Pallet Lift Trucks Owner Operator Maintenance & Parts Manual
1.With the upper section of the hydraulic assembly (10) in the top cap (11), insert the hydraulic assembly pressure plate (12) between the turning tube links (13).
2.Fit the arm bolts (14) and lock them with locking pins (15).
3.Install the circlip (16) in the groove of the top cap (11).
! When fitting a circlip (16), there is a risk that the circlip can slip off the circlip bar and cause injury. Be careful when fitting the circlip. Raymond recommends using circlip pliers as shown in Figure6 on page12 . Use caution when inserting locking pins (4, 15) with a hammer. The force can cause the locking pins to bounce, causing damage. Be careful when fitting the locking pins.
Assembling Hydraulics in the Body CAUTION
NOTE Always clean and inspect dismantled parts before re-assembling. Always replace gaskets before re-assembling.
To assemble hydraulics in the body, follow these instructions: (See Table2 and Figure5 on page11 .)
MaintenanceMaintenance and Repair
The hand pallet lift truck should be maintained on a regular basis, as set out in the service checks and lubrication diagram. ( See Figure7 on page15 .) Only authorized and trained personnel are permitted to maintain, adjust, or repair the hand pallet lift truck. To make sure that your hand pallet lift truck is operating efficiently, economically, and safely, it is strongly recommended that a service and maintenance agreement be signed with your Raymond Sales and Service Center.
InspectionDo a monthly inspection of the following:
•Control handle—check for damage or fracture.•Wheels—check for wear and damage (tread separation).•Decals and tags—check for proper placement and legibility.
Maintenance
All pivot points are equipped with lubricated bushings and bearings. To prolong the life of the truck, it is recommended that all pivot points be lubricated every 6 months. The truck is equipped with grease fittings conveniently located at important pivot points. Apply grease every 6 months under normal operating conditions.

Lubrication
Always clean the hand pallet lift truck to ensure its reliability. After cleaning the hand pallet lift truck, it should be lubricated by trained and authorized personnel only. For lubrication points, see Figure7 .

4.Measure the vertical height of the exposed piston (Item 20, Figure11 ) and refer to the chart below,
Adding Oil (if required):
1.Place and secure the truck on its right side (release valve facing the floor). Refer to Figure11 on page38 .
2.Pull up on the release lever (Item 3, Figure11 ) and extend the lift piston fully.
Hydraulic System NOTE
Check with your supervisor to make sure that the correct type of hydraulic oil is used. ( See Table3 for “ Types of Oil and Grease for the Hydraulic System. ” )
Your hydraulic system is maintenance free. Do not add hydraulic oil unless there is, or has been, a leak. Use recommended hydraulic oil or equivalent. Other oils, fluids, or solvents can damage your hydraulic system. If you suspect additional oil is required, follow these steps:
1.Check for and fix and possible oil leaks.
2.Lower the truck and load with 600 lbs. (272 kg) (approximate).3.Pump the truck to its maximum lift height.
3.Remove screw (Item 29, Figure11 ) and add the amount of oil determined by Step 4 (under Hydraulic System).
4.Reinstall screw (Item 29, Figure11 ) but do not tighten. Leave a 1/32 in. gap.
5.Pull up on the release lever (Item 3, Figure11 ) and collapse the lift piston until oil starts to ooze from the screw.

Caution
! It is extremely important that Step 5 is performed. Otherwise, air in the pump can force out the wiper seal (Item 24, Figure11 ). Take care when adding oil not to introduce impurities into the hydraulic system.
6.Tighten the screw (Item 29, Figure11 ) fully and return the truck upright.
