Control, operation
Set the switch S363 to position 2. The travel speed is stored. The indicator light in the switch flashes. The travel direction indicator flashes. Release the travel pedal 7
The machine continues to travel at the current speed, provided that the road conditions are suitable.
To deactivate the Tempomat, actuate the working brake or set the switch S363 to position 0
The Tempomat is deactivated. The indicator light in the switch is off.
The following events automatically deactivate the Tempomat:
–Switching on/off of the servo control S35
–Changing travel direction
–Increasing the speed above the Tempomat level by pressing down the travel pedal 7
3.3.7On-road travelling
Note!
When travelling on public roads, you must conform to the relevant statutory regulations.
Before undertaking a journey, inform yourself of the local regulations.
Find out whether your machine is approved and registered for travel on public roads.
Always strictly adhere to the regulations.
Fig. 3-57 Example of mandatory auxiliary equipment
In many countries, the following equipment must be carried on board:
–Warning triangle
–High-visibility vest
–Warning light
–First aid kit
–Chucks
Preparation of machine:
Before undertaking a journey on public roads, carry out the following tasks and checks:
Clean the machine.
Clean the tyre profile. Empty the digging bucket(s). Close all doors and covers.
Swivel the uppercarriage so that it is aligned in the direction of travel: steering (oscillating) axle at the front.
Ensure that the uppercarriage is properly locked in its position (see chapter "Locking uppercarriage").
3.3.7.1Securing
Note!
Before travel operation: To prevent accidents, you should remove the grapple prior to travel operation. If this is not possible, it must be secured as described below.
Undercarriage with grapple bracket
1 Grapple
3 Connecting link
2 Grapple bracket at undercarriage
Attach grapple 1 to the grapple bracket 2
Secure the connecting link 3
Undercarriage without grapple bracket
1 Grapple

If the securing link is not mounted, the grapple might become dislodged during travel and begin to oscillate. This poses a serious risk to persons and objects along the travel route.
Before travelling, always mount the securing link and secure it with the two safety plugs.
Danger!
Risk of injury and damage to property from improperly secured or handled chain. Risk of injury and damage to property due to inadvertent movement of the grapple or the attachment.
The chain length must be adjusted to suit the actual equipment, in particular the grapple dimensions, the undercarriage model and the stick length.
Ensure that both chains are of the same length. Do not cross the chains.
Adjust the chain length, so that the grapple is at a distance of minimum 10 cm to the undercarriage when in travel position.
Ensure that there is a sufficient distance between the grapple and the operator's cab in order to prevent collision during travel.
Use the securing eyelets only to attach the grapple. Do not use the securing eyelet to attach loads.
Do not open or close the grapple while it is secured with chains.
Caution!
The attachment might be indifferently lowered. This might cause damage to the machine.
Do not use the securing devices of the grapple or the chain to keep the grapple in travel position for a prolonged period of time.
Close the grapple fully. Align the grapple to the undercarriage. Lower the grapple until it is just above the ground. Mount the securing link 1 to the attachment points. Secure the securing link with the two securing plugs 2
Attaching chains: Adjust the chain length to suit the machine. The chain length depends on the –grapple dimensions –undercarriage model –stick length
Fig. 3-61 Attaching chains
Place the grapple in a horizontal position on a level ground. Attach the chains with the tackle 3 to the securing eyelet 4 on the stick. Insert the load hook 5 in the outer boreholes in the grapple.
Positioning the grapple in travel position:
Danger!
During the adjustment of grapple position, there is a risk that the attachment might collide with the operator's cab. Risk of injury and damage to equipment!
When adjusting the grapple position, move the attachment slowly and operate the machine with great care.
Fig. 3-62 Positioning the grapple in travel position
Adjust the chain length.
Lift the attachment with the slewing boom to the stop, and then lower the boom. Move the stick with the grapple towards the uppercarriage. Always maintain a safety distance of minimum 10cm to the undercarriage.
If necessary, place the grapple again horizontally on the ground and shorten or extend the chain.
Attach the securing link to the bucket tilting device.
3.3.7.2Positioning attachment in travel position
Fig. 3-63 Attachment in travel position
For travelling on public roads, please observe the following: In Germany, the distance from the centre of the steering wheel to the very front point of the equipment may not exceed 3500 mm (according to road traffic laws).
Lift the attachment (with the slewing boom 1) to the stop, and then lower the boom 2
Tilt the excavating bucket and move the stick as close as possible to the uppercarriage.
3.3.7.3Securing support in road travel position
Fig. 3-64 Outrigger support and blade support in travel position
Retract the outrigger support to the stop. Fold the hinged feet attached to the outriggers inwards. Lift the blade support to the stop. Attach additional retroreflectors to the left and right of the blade.
3.3.7.4Tasks to be completed before on-road travel
Switch off the control system for the working hydraulics: Press the switch S35 up. The indicator light in the switch is off. The joystick is without function. The idle automatic is deactivated.
Release the oscillating axle (turn the switch S75 to position 0).
3.3.8Oscillating axle locking device
3-65 Oscillating axle locking device
The oscillating axle can be operated locked (rigid) or unlocked (oscillating). The relevant selection is chosen with the switch S75
