Sentences preceded by bullet points contain specific instructions, such as

• Switch the transmission to neutral position N. Such passages require you to perform specific operations.

Switch elements and indicator lamps which have the same symbol are indicated by a single symbol whenever they are referred to in the same context, e.g.

1.4.3 How can I find the information I am looking for quickly and easily?

These operating instructions contain the following items for orientation: –The table of contents at the beginning of the operating instructions –The table of contents of each chapter on the preceding coloured separator sheet

–The index at the end of the operating instructions or at the end of the individual parts of the operating instructions –Cross-references in the text.

The general table of contents and the tables of contents for individual chapters provide a thematic overview of the operating instructions.

The index (in Chapters 10 and 17 of these operating instructions) is an alphabetic list of key words or search terms with reference to the respective page on which the term is defined or the corresponding operation is described.

You can find information on how to use the index on page à p.1-19. The text itself contains a number of cross-references to other text passages which contain additional or detailed information about particular terms. These cross-references are indicated by arrows (à).

You must turn to the page to which the arrow refers whenever you require detailed information on a subject.

Furthermore, you can use the cross-references to systematically familiarize yourself with the truck crane, beginning with general information and then moving on to detailed information, or look up the functions of individual elements.
