1.4.3 How can I find the information I am looking for quickly and easily? . . . . . . . . 1

1.3 Overview and contents of the truck crane user information

1.3.1 Operating instructions for driving and crane operation

These operating instructions contain the information required to operate the truck crane. The operating instructions are divided into two parts. Part 1 with chapters 1 to 10 describes how to drive the truck crane. Part 2 with chapters11 to 17 describes how to operate the crane.

Basic safety instructions can be found in chapter2. Please read and observe these instructions even if you are familiar with the safety manual. These Basic safety instructions can only be found in this chapter. Special safety instructions that refer to specific hazards are can be found in the sections on the operations to which the respective hazards refer.

Chapter3 contains Information for operations planning. It is intended primarily for the truck crane operator and those persons responsible for planning operations. This chapter contains: –The qualifications required by those persons involved in planning operations of the truck crane –Special safety instructions –Information that is relevant to planning operations

Information required for Driving the truck crane can be found in chapter4 to chapter6: a description of all structural and operational components, clearly defined checklists for rigging modes or rigging work and the operating instructions for on-road and off-road driving.

Chapter7 provides information on Rigging for on-road driving.

Chapter8 provides you with information on Troubleshooting in driving mode.

Chapter9 contains Technical descriptions of individual components and functional parts of the carrier as well as the Technical data.

s

Chapter10 contains the index at the end of Part 1 – Driving.

Chapter11 to chapter13 contain the information required for the Operation of the crane section, i.e. for working with the truck crane: a description of all components and control elements, information on operating the crane engine as well as on the crane itself.

Chapter14 deals with rigging the truck crane. In detail, you can find information on the Selection of an appropriate site, on rigging the Outriggers and Counterweight and on Rigging work on the main boom.

Chapter15 provides you with information on Troubleshooting in crane operation mode.

Chapter16 contains the Technical description of the individual components and functional parts of the superstructure as well as the Technical data.

You can use the Index in chapter17 at the end of Part 2 – Crane operation to find certain operations and terms in the operating instructions.

1.3.2 Operating instructions for the lattice extension (additional equipment)

If the truck crane is equipped with a lattice extension, a boom extension, an auxiliary single-sheave boom top or other additional equipment, the corresponding operating instructions (e.g. the operating instructions for the Lattice extension) are also supplied. They contain all information on possible combinations, rigging, operation, transportation and the technical data of the additional equipment.

1.3.3 Maintenance manual

The maintenance manual is intended for the maintenance personnel. The maintenance manual does not contain any information on repair work. The maintenance manual contains: –Information on cleaning the truck crane –The run-in regulations –The maintenance intervals –The maintenance plans –The specifications of the required lubricants and consumables –A description of the maintenance work on both the vehicle section and crane section

1.3.4 Lifting capacity table

These tables contain information on the load bearing capacity, the permissible wind speeds and the SLI codes of the truck crane in various rigging modes and boom positions.

1.3.5 Outrigger pressure table

These tables contain information on the outrigger pressures at the pressure points of the outriggers in relation to the load, radius, rigging mode and boom direction.

1.3.6 Safety manual

The Safety manual is intended to warn the crane operator of the hazards that may occur when operating the truck crane on a daily basis. It is intended to show you how to avoid these hazards from the onset or how to react properly if they occur.

The Safety manual contains: –General safety instructions –Safety instructions for driving the truck crane –Safety instructions for rigging and working with truck cranes –Safety instructions for crane operation under specific operating conditions The crane operator is responsible for observing the information and taking the measures specified in the Safety manual, which are prerequisites for operating the truck crane safely.

1.3.7 Circuit diagrams

Circuit diagrams are used for troubleshooting and are intended for trained maintenance personnel and CraneCARE. The following are enclosed: –The compressed air circuit diagram –The hydraulics circuit diagram –The electrical circuit diagram

1.3.8 Spare parts list

The Spare parts list contains all available genuine spare parts as well as ordering information.

1.4 Instructions on how to use this documentation

These operating instructions are not a training manual for prospective crane operators. All descriptions have been written explicitly for crane operators who have been trained to operate truck cranes. These operating instructions are for reference. They contain brief or detailed explanations of operating steps and procedures which are based on the assumption that the crane operator already has a certain level of knowledge.

1.4.1 How are the operating instructions structured?

G S

The operating instructions consist of Part 1 – Driving and Part 2 – Crane operation. One part on its own, however, does not constitute a complete set of operating instructions. Both parts must be kept at the truck crane. The basic safety instructions, including those for crane operation, and general information can only be found in Chapter 1. The individual parts consist of: –The descriptions of the operating and control instruments and their designations, positions and functions –The checklists, which describe the respective required crane or rigging mode The individual steps of extensive rigging procedures are specified in the required order. The respective operating instructions are referred to in the individual sections. They describe the individual rigging steps in detail, including the required warnings and safety instructions.

The checklists and operating instructions should always be applied together as units in order to describe entire rigging procedures.

Individual operating instructions only describe individual rigging steps. The rigging steps required for the complete rigging procedure and their order can only be found in the checklist.

s

The checklists contain cross-references to the respective sections in which the required operations are described along with the dangers involved. As crane operator, you are obliged to read these sections –Prior to using the crane for the first time and –If you are not yet entirely confident about operating the truck crane It is impossible to operate the truck crane safely using the only checklists unless –You have acquired the skills to perform the required operations as they are described in the respective sections. –You are aware of all potential hazards and know how to avoid them. Read the section which is referred to in the checklist before operating the truck crane whenever you are in doubt.

1.4.2 How are the pages of the operating instructions structured?

The individual pages of the operating instructions consist of a wide text column and a narrow column containing several functions. The narrow column contains graphic and/or text information, depending on the requirements. This includes –The symbols for dangers, environmental protection and general information

–The symbols for the switches, keys and lamps required to operate the truck crane

–Graphic illustrations of the individual functional and structural elements of the truck crane

–The chapter and section numbers –The headings of small sections in which, for example, single procedures are explained The following passages have been put in italics: –The designations of operating instruments such as switches, buttons or lamps –Cross-referenced section titles

Passages in which individual sentences are preceded by a hyphen (as in this section for example) are lists. They structure the text for a clearer overview and easier comprehension.
