1.5.2.1 First Time Fill

Note: The Transfer case when delivered from NAF does not contain any oil. Description: The transmission housing and all wheel drive release shifting housing have common oil reservoirs. • Transfer Case

Remove oil fill plug (No.60) and add oil as per the lubrication chart until the upper mark of the of the dip stick (No.61) is reached. Check level again after 5 minutes and if required add more oil. Tightening torque of oil fill plug (No.60) is 53 Nm. (Figure 1) 1.5.2.2 . Oil Change

• Transfer Case

Change oil while it is warm. For this clean drain plug (No.62), dip stick (No.61), screw plug (No.60), and surrounding area thoroughly. Remove fill plug (No.60) and then drain plug (No.62) and drain oil completely. Before drain plug (No.62) reinstall, check it and if required clean the magnet from any debris or chips. Tighten drain plug (No.62) and add oil according to the Lubrication Chart until the top mark on the dip stick (No 61) is reached.

Tightening torque of the fill plug (No.60) and drain plug (No.62) is 53 Nm. (see Figures 2/3) 1.5.2.3 Oil Level Inspection

• Transfer Case

Proper oil level is at the top mark of dip stick (No.61), if required add oil. (see Figure 2) 1.5.2.4 Inspection

• various visible nuts and bolts

Due to stresses and vibrations exerted on the axle, it is possible for various bolts and nuts to become loose. Timely tightening of these will prevent any leaks or other damage.

The glued nut for the drive shaft flange (pinion nut) must not be tightened.
