About this manual

This section provides important information which will simplify operation with this instruction manual. In addition, it contains information on the structure of the manual and on the symbols employed.

Before starting work

If you employ an operating manual which does not apply specifically to the present shield type, you endanger yourself and others. Ensure that the type specifications on the shield agree with those of the operating manual. This operating manual applies to the following shield types:

Its use is permissible only for shields of these types! An operating manual must always be available for the support at the site of operation. Request a new operating manual immediately, if the existing manual is no longer complete, or has become illegible.

Persons for whom the operating manual is intended

This operating manual is intended for those persons who work with or on the shields. Every person who works in the face or in the zone at the edge of the face must read this operating manual.

This includes persons who:

J are in charge of transport, – erect the rise heading, – perform assembly / disassembly work, – operate the shields, – correct malfunctions, – perform daily routine work in the face, – monitor / care for the hydraulic system, – perform maintenance work, – perform repair work;

supervisory personnel who

J initiate or J supervise J the activities just indicated, or both.
