Controlling the Umbrella Lock

If the key is held for 3s or the Enter key is pressed following the Ulock key, the Umbrella Lock will be cancelled.

Hold for 3s or follow with the Enter key to de-activate Umbrella Lock

The size of the Umbrella Lock zone is set by parameter "Umbrella Lock Distance". When the zone is activated or moved, the set number of shields on each side becomes part of the active Umbrella Lock zone. The display will indicate if the Umbrella Lock zone runs into another Umbrella Lock zone or the end of the face. The display also shows how many more shields are included in the Umbrella Lock zone.

These display lines are shown as the default display; line2 of the display will continue to show the normal sensor and shearer position information.

Umbrella Lock Messages

These displays are shown when the Umbrella Lock zone is initiated or moved. They only display for Key-time and then they go away.

Umbrella activated. Not for maintenance!! Umbrella Lock is not intended for maintenance; use the black Local Lockout.

Umbrella activated. For travel only!! Umbrella is intended only for traveling across face; not for maintenance.

When shields are first included in the Umbrella Lock zone, a short audible warning will sound. When moving the Umbrella Lock zone causes some shields to be released (i.e., no longer within the zone), those shields will provide an audible warning that the Umbrella Lock no longer covers those shields. This warning is longer than the new-Umbrella Lock warning and the Umbrella Lock restrictions are not actually released until the warning sound is completed.
