Engine Oil Level

Check the engine oil level before you start the engine each day or before the start of each 10 hour shift. Always check the oil level with the engine stopped and when the machine is on level ground. Push the engine oil level dipstick completely down and pull out before you check the oil level. If the oil level is below the ADD mark, add oil to raise the oil level up to the FULL mark.

Oil Change and Filter Replacement

NOTE: For more complete removal of foreign material, change the engine oil while the engine is still warm, not hot from operation. IMPORTANT: The recommended oil change frequency is 100 hours if diesel fuel with a sulphur content of more than 0.5% is used. Change the engine oil more frequently when the engine operating conditions are severe (frequent stopping and starting and high or low engine temperatures). 1.Before draining the oil, have a suitable container that will hold 2.0

U.K. gallons (9.0 litres). 2.Remove the engine oil drain plug cover (1).

5.Use a clean cloth and wipe the sealing surface of the oil filter base to remove all dirt.

6.Apply a thin layer of clean grease or oil to the gasket of the new filter. 7.Turn the new oil filter onto the base until the gasket makes contact with the base. Continue to tighten the filter with your hand until tight. IMPORTANT: DO NOT use a filter strap wrench to install the oil filter. An oil filter strap wrench can cause a leak if the filter is dented or overstressed.

3.Put a suitable container under the drain plug. Remove the engine oil drain plug. 4.To remove the engine oil filter (2), turn the filter counterclockwise.

Dispose of the filter properly.

8.Install the drain plug. 9.Install the correct type and quantity of oil. See page 74. Put new oil into the engine oil filter.

10.Start the engine and run at idle speed. Check the engine oil filter for leaks. After two minutes, stop the engine, wait for 2 or 3 minutes, and check the engine oil level again. 11.Dispose of the oil in accordance with the local regulations. DO NOT drain onto the ground or into a drain. Be responsible for the environment.
