BIOS Setup Utility

The BIOS Setup Utility is a hardware configuration program built in the BIOS (Basic Input / Output System) of computer. Generally speaking, the computer is already properly configured and optimized, and you do not need to run this utility. However, if you encounter configuration problems, you may need to run Setup. Otherwise, you can also refer to Chapter 4 Troubleshooting when problem arises.

Invoking BIOS Setup

To activate the BIOS Utility, press F2 during POST (when “Press <F2> to enter Setup” message is prompted on the left-bottom side of the screen). There are six prime items in the BIOS Setup Utility. They are Information, Main, Advanced, Security, Boot and Exit. In the coming pages, we will explain the BIOS Setup Utility by item.

Note: During setup, all Fn function keys and power saving function are disabled.

Part Description

Information Display the system informations. Main Allows the user to specify standard IBM PC AT system parameters. Advanced Provides advanced setting of the system. Security Provides security setting of the system. Boot Allows the user to specify the boot options. Exit Allows the user to save CMOS setting and exit Setup.
