274 b. Remove the secondary sheave (Figure 27). c. Adjust offset by adding or removing shims placed between secondary sheave and the jackshaft bearing support (Figure 28). d. Reinstall the secondary sheave and recheck the offset. If the offset is incorrect, repeat until the offset is correct. e. After adjusting the sheave offset, perform the Secondary Sheave Free Play Adjustment as described in this chapter. 5. Reinstall the drive belt as described in this chapter.

PRIMARY SHEAVE SERVICE (1985 AND 1986 MX AND MX [H/A)) The primary sheave (Figure 29) is mounted onto the left end of the crankshaft. Removal The Ski-Doo crankshaft locking tool (part No. 420 8766 40) and the drive pulley puller (part No. 529002 100) will be required to remove the primary sheave. 1. Remove the drive belt as described in this chapter. 2. Disconnect the fuel pump pulse hose at the crankcase. NOTE In Figure 30 the engine is removed for clarity. CAUTION Do not substitute the crankshaft locking tool described in Step 3. Substituting the tool with a softer piece of metal may cause crankshaft damage.

3. Insert the crankshaft locking tool (part No. 420 8766 40) through the pulse hose nozzle and engage the tool with the crankshaft (Figure 30). After installing the tool, rotate the crankshaft slightly until the tool "locks" the crankshaft. 4. Loosen and remove the sheave bolt and washer.
