DESCRIPTION OF FUEL CELL PRODUCTS

Infraserv Höchst operates advanced technical infrastructure for the chemical, pharmaceutical and related process industries. It is the Frankfurt-based operator of the industrial park Höchst. Infraserv GmbH & Höchst KG supplies companies with energies and media, provides waste disposal, business space and infrastructure. Its service portfolio ranges from environmental, security and safety services all the way to health products, communication and IT. It also offers logistics services as well as training and continuing education. The wholly owned subsidiaries of the Infraserv Höchst Group include Infraserv Logistics, Provadis and Technion. Infraserv GmbH & Co. Höchst KG has 1,900 employees and 128 trainees. The Infraserv Höchst Group has 2,700 employees and 159 trainees (2008). In 2008, Infraserv Höchst and its subsidiaries generated more than one billion EUR in revenues.

More than 30 mill. Nm3 /y hydrogen is available as a by-product from a chemical plant at the industrial park Höchst. This gives an ideal opportunity to Infraserv Höchst, operator of the industrial park to be active in hydrogen and fuel-cell technology. In the years 2001–2006 Infraserv Höchst has operated a Phosphoric Acid Fuel Cell (PAFC) plant, which has provided 200 kW power and 220 kW of heat. Trailer filling stations along with a compressor station with different compressors including an ionic liquid compressor up to 1000 bar are operated at the hydrogen centre of Infraserv Höchst. Within the EU project “Zero Regio” coordinated and lead by Infraserv Höchst, hydrogen is transported in a 1000 bar 1.7 km long pipeline from the hydrogen centre to the public service station built by Agip situated at the south gate outside of the industrial park. Three hydrogen refuelling dispensers are in operation at the station: one dispenser each for hydrogen at 350 bar and 700 bar and one for liquid hydrogen. Liquid hydrogen is truck transported to the station. A dedicated fleet with 5 fuel cell vehicles (Daimler A-class F-Cell) are demonstrated in real life applications by Fraport and Infraserv Höchst. Based on the experience gained within Zero Regio, Infraserv plans to develop larger projects in the field of stationary and mobile applications of hydrogen and fuel cell technology. Hydrogen Infrastructure at Infraserv Höchst: > Storage capacity 10000 m3 at 1.07 bar 25 m3 at 225 bar 2.4 m3 at 300 bar > 1.7 km pipeline at 1000 bar > Ionic Liquid Compressor 1000 bar, 1.335 kg/min > Piston compressors 7 bar and 250 bar > Refuelling dispenser at 350 bar > Refuelling dispenser at 700 bar (Release A standard) > Refuelling dispenser for LH2 > Trailer filling station 250 bar > Hydrogen Networks at 1.2, 7 and 226 bar > PAFC Plant 220 kW heat, 200 kW power
