Have you been a victim of crime? Working in partnership for a safer Hertsmere
Are you aware of your entitlements?
Victims of crime and their close family members have rights and entitlements: •
Yourself and others • Don’t drink and drive for any reason. • Don’t walk home alone from parties at night. Either use a registered taxi or ask someone you know to accompany you. Never flag down a passing taxi and always pre-book. • Drink responsibly, don’t leave your drinks unattended and know your limits. • If you are planning a party consider your neighbours. • You don’t have to put on a brave face this Christmas. Domestic violence is unacceptable all year round. There is help out there – call the Hertfordshire Domestic Abuse Helpline 08 088 088 088 • If you have an elderly relative or friend, make sure they are safe, warm enough and check that they have a working smoke alarm.
• •
Access to free and confidential support - this service is open to all whether or not the crime has been reported to the police.
Enhanced practical and emotional support for vulnerable victims. Access to Restorative Justice.

Some of the other things Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership (CSP) have been up to in 2016 • Since January, our Safer Streets team have knocked at 913 homes, signed 168 residents up to Neighbourhood Watch and offered crime prevention and home fire safety advice to all, as well as free first aid training by British Red Cross. • We’ve carried out Silver Streets visits to elderly sheltered housing to offer crime prevention, fire safety and scam advice. • More than 40 vehicles were stopped and examined as part of Operation Raj this summer. The operation which involved Hertfordshire Constabulary, Trading Standards and our Environmental Health team targeted commercial vehicles to ensure they were licensed, fit to be on the road and had registered MOTs. • More than 900 people across Borehamwood were able to enjoy some free seasonal fun thanks to funding from Affinity Sutton and us. Organised by Hertsmere Leisure and Borehamwood Safer Neighbourhood Team, the four Fun in the Park events were held at Meadow Park, Ripon Park and Aberford Park.
