In April 2025, we will introduce weekly collections of food waste –one year ahead of government targets! To get the full details, head over to page 8 to find out more.

Spring is just around the corner and so is the start of our Garden Waste Collection Service. There’s no legal requirement for local authorities to collect garden waste, but we know for some residents it’s a helpful service and brings us in-line with other well performing councils.

You can start signing up in the New Year. If you subscribe now to receive our ‘News for You’ waste and recycling e-alerts at hertsmere.gov.uk/contactus, we’ll let you know when the form is ready to sign up.

Don’t worry if you choose not to participate in the garden waste collection service, you can still take your garden waste to one of Hertfordshire County Council’s recycling centres or why not try composting at home?
