Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership (CSP) brings a range of organisations together to ensure a joined-up and strategic approach to tackling crime and disorder issues in the borough.

That was just one of the hard-hitting questions posed at an information evening to raise awareness of the dangers of young people becoming involved in knife crime, gangs and county lines. More than 100 young people, parents and professionals attended a Hertsmere Community Safety event that aimed to teach parents how to spot the signs their child could be at risk of becoming involved in criminality. They heard from the parents of two men who were stabbed to death and SOS+ Project Facilitators for St Giles Trust, a charity that helps the severely disadvantaged to find jobs, homes and the right support. Together they explained how drug dealers identify young people, the grooming process, the signs a young person may be involved with a gang and how they are used within county lines, a term to describe organised criminal networks

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue can visit your home to do a Safe and Well visit. The visit will last no longer than an hour and you’ll be given advice to keep you and your property safe. They will check existing smoke alarms are correctly sited and working, and will replace or fit new ones FREE of charge. They will also cover topics such as: • Fire risks • Fire hazards • Fire Safety Awareness Planning • Cooking safety • Escape plans • Electrical safety • Candle safety
