St Albans Museum + Gallery - Opening June 2018 The new St Albans Museum + Gallery opens in June following the transformation of St Albans’ Town Hall. UHArts is delighted to be a partner in this pioneering project, contributing exhibitions and events. See our website and social media feeds for details of opening dates and times.

Accumulate unites the work of resident artists Katy Gillam-Hull, Lyndall Phelps and Abi Spendlove, who have independently researched St Albans Museums’ collections over the past three years. Katy’s delicate copper and wire objects reference the remarkable Salaman Tool Collection, a significant but often overlooked collection. Lyndall invites conversations between selected collection objects and her own exquisite handmade artworks, inspired by St Albans’ manufacturing past. Abi has been inspired by fragments of stained glass found in the museums’ collections and has created a range of reflective, highly-coloured pieces. FREE

Lyndall Phelps Lyndall’s interest in absent objects within museum collections led her to the remarkable Alexander Hopkins British Butterfly Collection once on display in St Albans and now cared for by Maidstone Museum. Her playful intervention invites a flock of kaleidoscopic, decorative butterflies back into the building. FREE

Susie MacMurray Susie MacMurray dresses the splendid Assembly Room with a specially commissioned sculptural installation, taking inspiration from the women who might have graced the dance floor in the past. FREE
