Brenham Lodge hears Bartay’s report on Boys State BRENHAM – Brenham Lodge members heard a report from Jackson Bartay during the January meeting. The lodge sponsored Jackson when he attended American Legion Boys State. He was accompanied by his grandparents, Travis and Shirley Boeker. Jackson shared what he learned about government and thanked the lodge for its support. A moment of silence was observed in memory of Nina Little, Franklin Eckert and Ruth Thomas. The Cheer Committee mailed get-well cards to Ruth Loesch, Clarence Muegge and El Gene Schulle. Sympathy cards were mailed to the family of Nina Little; the family of Franklin Eckert – his son, Roger Eckert and sister and brother-in-law, Richard and Pearlie Hanath; to Milton and Evelyn Haack following the death of her brother, Edward Studhalter; to Herbert Beerwinkel following the death of his wife, Barbara; to the family of Willie Brinkmeyer – his daughter and son-inlaw, Glenwood and Willie Mae Hertel and grandchildren, Todd and Darlene Hertel; to the family of Ruth Thomas; to Robert Wellman following the death of his wife, Selma; and to Angela Bernshausen, Brett Grimm and Brian Grimm following

fee changes. Cost for members will be $250 with a $200 deposit and for non-members the cost will be $450 with a $200 deposit. President Jeanette Preuss is looking into repairs for the lodge hall’s dance floor and roof. Arnold and Magdalene Knuppel were thanked for providing the drinks before the meal in honor of Arnold’s 88th birthday. Nina Runge and Shirley Ganske were thanked for preparing the chili for the meal, Delores Meyer for providing the beans, Jeanette Preuss the rice and Betty Schramm the corn-
Paige Lodge will meet March 12 PAIGE – Paige Lodge will meet March 12 with a Mexican food potluck menu and a St. Patrick’s Day theme. Members are encouraged to dress in green. Games will be played after the meeting. A potluck meal was enjoyed at the Jan. 8 meeting. Bernice Basward reported sending a getwell card to Martin Albrecht and a sympathy card to Carl and Cindy Botkin following the loss of her mother. Christmas cards were sent to Cornell and Ethel Kunkel, Ofelia Saegert, Jim and Rosie Millner, Sadie Raschke, Leroy Wolrus and Harry and Gertrude Eschberger. A sympathy card was sent to the
Olfelia Saegert family. President RaChelle Dube read a note from Owen Thomas thanking the lodge for paying his 2016 Camp fee. The 2017-2018 schedule was approved. Meeting dates for the remainder of the year include April 9, May 21, June 11, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10. In 2018, the year will begin with meetings on Jan. 14 and Feb. 11. Meetings are held at the Paige Lodge Hall with a meal at noon followed by the meeting. Troy Kunkel won the attendance prize and Halle Dube won the dollar pot. Members and guests attended the installation of officers hosted by Giddings Lodge on Sunday, Jan. 22. Maxwell members asked to wear green on March 5 MAXWELL – Maxwell Lodge will meet Sunday, March 5. Members are asked to wear green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Sandwiches and chips will be served. New President Catherine Blackard led the Feb. 5 meeting. Members wore red in honor of Heart Health Month and Valentine’s Day. Plans were discussed for future meetings. An Easter bonnet contest will be held as part of the April 2 meeting. So put on your thinking caps and come up with fancy or even silly bonnets.
At the May 7 meeting, the lodge will honor mothers. At the Oct. 1 meeting, 50-, 60and 70-year membership pins will be presented. Agent Charles Croley was scheduled to attend agent training on Feb. 6 and Agent Darlene Bohmfalk on Feb. 28. Laura Bohmfalk and Elsie Croley were the door prize winners. Darlene Bohmfalk made chicken spaghetti and members provided a variety of mixed salads and a lemon cake. – Reporter
