SAN ANTONIO – The restoration of the historic stained glass window depicting Hermann the Cherusker was completed on Feb. 9. The stained glass window is located in the San Antonio Home Association Building in downtown San Antonio, next door to the Hermann Sons Home Office. In addition to restoring the window, workers installed high impact Plexiglas on the outside of the window as a protective shield. In 2016, a crowdfunding campaign was launched to raise the $10,000 needed to cover the cost of the restoration. Costs went beyond the amount raised. Additional donations can be made to the San Antonio Hermann Sons Home Association at 525 S. St. Mary’s St., San Antonio, TX 78205. Helen Ferne Goolsby Slimp created the stained glass window in 1911. She was only 21 years of age at the time. The San Antonio Home Association Board of Directors and the Grand Lodge would like to once again thank all those who donated toward the cost of the restoration of this piece of Hermann Sons history.

The work to restore the stained glass window of Hermann the Cherusker was completed on Feb. 9.
