Werland retiring; Pruitt named Finance VP SAN ANTONIO – After 22 years on the job, Harry Werland is retiring as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Hermann Sons Life effective April 1 . His successor will be Mary Pruitt who has been serving as Controller at the Home Office for the past 10 years . Harry has been the Vice President of Finance since his appointment to the position following the 2017 Grand Lodge Convention . He was elected Vice President of Investments at the 2009 Grand Lodge Convention and served two terms . He has been with Hermann Sons Life since 1997 when he came to work at the Home Office as the Controller . Mary earned her degree in accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio . She has a background in finance, banking and insurance having previously worked for Nationwide and Bank of America among other financial institutions . “I am grateful for the opportunity to be challenged professionally during the past 22 years,” Harry said . “I have enjoyed working with each member and giving back to our members .” He endorsed Mary’s appointment as his replacement by saying, “In my 10 years of working with Mary, she has never failed us .” Mary said she is humbled at the chance to succeed Harry . “I feel truly blessed to be given this opportunity,” she said . President and CEO Eugene Zollinger said about Harry’s retirement, “I am grateful for his years of service to our organization and the experience, knowledge and history he has shared with me since I came on board last year .” Mary, he said, “has done a tremendous job over the past 10 years as the Controller and I know that she will do equally as well in her new position .”

Harry Werland is retiring as Vice President of Finance and CFO of Hermann Sons Life. His successor will be Mary Pruitt. Mary has served as Controller for the past 10 years.
