Elementary School: Testimony Treasures
Each year, numerous Heritage elementary students pray to receive Christ into their lives, either at home or school. The teachers and principals have always made it a point to celebrate this occasion by letting the child play a xylophone over the intercom to announce this transformational moment. You can often hear cheers throughout the building when this happens.
In 2009, then Assistant Principal Mary Lou Cooper came up with the idea to also have these students write out their testimony and put it in a book.

Since then, the testimony book has become a staple item in the elementary office. When a child accepts Christ, the teachers and principals explain to him or her what a testimony is, then a parent or teacher will help the child write one down. The principals help the child place the testimony in the book, let him or her ring the xylophone, then gift the student a devotional book. This book helps children further understand salvation and offers devotionals the child can do at home.
Today, the elementary office has two testimony books stuffed full with children’s testimonies. This memento is just another physical demonstration of the work of the Holy Spirit in our young hearts and minds. We celebrate how His work is living and active at Heritage, in all grade levels!
