THE ONE WAY or ONE PATH III This week we will continue looking at God’s path or plan for His true followers. As we read last week, He gave us His directions (plan) through His Son Jesus (John 14:24) and the Holy Spirit (John 16:13). Today, we know it as the gospel. In Romans 1:16, 17 Paul tells us; “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the Righteous man Shall Live by Faith.” To read how Paul defined the gospel, look at I Corinthians 15:1-9. Later he told the young preacher Timothy, in II Tim 3:16, 17-“ All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” There is one body-( Eph. 4:4). Paul tells us in Romans 12:4, 5;”For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” In Colossians 1: 15-20 we read of the incomparable Christ. Vs, 18 says; “He is the head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.” Last week we read in Matt. 16:18 that Christ said He would build His church. There is one Spirit-(Eph 4: 4). I Cor. 12: 13 says; “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Who is this one Spirit? We see in Gen. 1:2 that the Spirit was with God in the beginning. God, through His prophet Jeremiah in Ch. 31: 31, said that He would make a new covenant. Vs. 33 we read; “... I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” In 2 Sam. 23:2, King David declared; “ The Spirit of the Lord spoke to me, and His word was on my tongue.” Last week we read in John 14:26, Jesus promised the apostles that He would send the Holy Spirit to teach them and remind them of everything He said to them. John 16: 13 Jesus again told them; “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak of His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” In Acts 2: 1-4 we see the promise that Christ made to the apostles was fulfilled. Vs. 4 says “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.” The Spirit is guiding us today by the gospel which was given to us by God! If you would like a Bible study or have questions or comments, please call or text: John Sublett @ 344-7147 or James Self @ 344-4070. If you don’t have a Bible, we’ll give you one!
