JAMES “MIKE” PEARMAN

of North Salem, drifted off to heaven Thursday, July 22, 2021, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Mike was born August 12, 1968 in Danville, a son of the late James Pearman and Sharon (Games) Batts. He married his best friend Anita Pearman on March 23, 1996 and she survives. They celebrated 25 years together this year. Mike loved to eat and Anita loves to cook, so it all worked out well.

He worked as a diesel mechanic for Estes Express Lines for almost 18 years, up until his death. Mike was a member of the Harvestime Fellowship Church in Jamestown. He loved mowing his grass (the way he liked it) and enjoyed farming with Rob Farrow and Travis Lee. Harvest season was his favorite time of the year. Mike enjoyed spending time with his boys, whether they were shooting hoops, watching sports, watching a movie, joking around or wrestling, he loved every minute of it.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Pearman of North Salem; sons, Thomas, Jacob, and Samuel Pearman; brothers, John Mark (Jeri) Pearman of Florida, Terry Joe (Jodi) Pearman of Advance, Greg (Lisa) Batts of Kentucky, Jim (Kathy) Batts of Jamestown, and Randy (Lisa) Batts of Clayton; sisters, Samantha (Justin) Wilburn of Ladoga and Debbie (Terry) DeVaney of Brownsburg; step- father, Marion Batts of Jamestown; father-in-law, Pastor Art Thomas of North Salem; and sister-in-law, Melodie Pearman of Alabama. There will be calling at Harvestime Fellowship in Jamestown on Thurs., July 29, from 2-8 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at Harvestime Fellowship. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in North Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to Harvestime Fellowship, P.O. Box 312, Jamestown, IN 46147.

JAMES “JIM” DEWAYNE BRANER

83, of Lizton, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born June 18, 1938 in Sullivan, Indiana, a son of the late Otto and Flora (Barnhart) Braner. He was a 1956 graduate of Hymera High School in Hymera, Indiana.

Jim owned and operated M & R Used Car Sales in Jamestown for 40 years. He loved living in a small town, where everyone knew each other and enjoyed drinking coffee with the guys.

Following retirement, Jim would visit his car dealership daily. Jim enjoyed racing and was a loving father and papaw, who absolutely adored his grandkids. He was a loyal, and generous neighbor and friend to many.

Survivors include two sons, Tad (Janis) Braner of Lebanon and Todd (Alesha) Braner of Lizton; two daughters, Rita (Chester) Bean of Merom and Teresa Braner of Clermont; stepson, Mark Damrell of Lebanon; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Betty Fusco of Sopchoppy, Florida; lifetime partner, Paula Caudill of Lizton; and a four-legged buddy, Pooh.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Services were Monday, July 26, at Porter and Hunt Funeral Home & Crematoryin Jamestown. Intermented follow services at K of P Cemetery in Lizton.

DOUGLAS “DOUG” LAWRENCE

of Plainfield passed away July 20, 2021.

He was born November 26th 1951 to the late Forest and Leora K. Lawrence. A graduate from Purdue University, Doug was employed with the State of Indiana where he was a civil engineer. He retired from the State in 2014.

He was active in the Girls Softball League, Junior Football League.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charylene “Chari” Lawrence.

He is survived by his children: William (Susan) Shouse, Richard (Trina) Lawrence, April (CJ) Strange; sister: Carolyn Gordon; grandchildren: Devon and Brianna Shouse, Tyler, Angelo and Riley Lawrence, Christopher and Thomas Strange; Great grandchildren: Kingsley and Leila Bennett, Baby Shouse.

RICK A. GREEN SR.

58, Brownsburg, passed away July 23, 2021.

Rick was an architect working for Axis Architecture.

An avid baseball fan, he had served on the Brownsburg Little League Baseball Board for 28 years and was an IH- SAA official and member of the Indiana Officials Association. He was a member of the Brownsburg Church of Christ.

His father, Richard E. Green, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Karen Green; mother Rita Green; children Rick A. Green Jr. (wife Kim), Randy Green (wife Haylee) and Renea Colter (husband Adam); brother Bob Green; sister Pam Green; grandchildren Amelia, Odin, Torben, Lila and Lawson Green and Sterling Colter.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 27, at the Brownsburg Church of Christ, Brownsburg. Burial followed at Washington Park North Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Brownsburg Little League Baseball, PO Box 203, Brownsburg, IN 46112. Arrangements: Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg.

MAX ARTHUR COOPER

56, of Danville, passed away July 20, 2021. Max was born in Indianapolis, the son of Sue Lee White and Robert Lee Cooper.

Max is survived by his parents, his daughter Abby Cooper; 4 siblings, uncle Mike, uncle Tim, aunt Shirley and many nieces and nephews.

Max was a good father, loved by his family and he will be missed greatly.

STEVEN RICHARD POINTER

51, of Evaston, Illinois, formerly of Avon, passed away on July 18,2021 at Northwest Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois due to complications of Cancer Surgery.

He was born in Lebanon, Indiana on October 10,1969 to the (late) Richard Paul Pointer & Shirley (Burch) Pointer of Plainfield, who survives.

He graduated from Avon High School in 1989.

He was also survived by his wife, Louise Holler of Evaston, Illinois and daughters Breanne and Alyssa Pointer of Plainfield, sisters Kimberly Delarosa of Indianapolis, Shannon (William) Hall of Westerville, Ohio, and Kelly Adepeko of Plainfield, as well as several nieces and nephews and his faithful pug, Marti.

Steve enjoyed Golf, Hockey, and NASCAR. He was employed with Wilmette Hockey as a Instructor/Coach.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Westmoreland Country Club, 2525 Old Glenview Road Wilmette, IL 60091 on Sunday August 8, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. CT.

NORMA JEAN PORTER

age 94, of Plainfield, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Norma was born January 26, 1927 in Eminence, Indiana the daughter of the late Joseph and Opal Whisenand. She worked for Grain Dealers Mutual Insurance Co. for 21 years, retiring in 1991.

Norma was a faithful member of the Westside Church of the Nazarene and Hendricks County Extension Homemakers.

Norma is survived by her children, Howard (Reva) Porter, Jr., Sandra (Lawrence) Jinkins, Larry (Darlene) Porter, Carol (Pete) McAllister and Kenneth (Kim McGlaughlin) Porter, step-sisters: Wilma Steffey and Betty Jean Larimore, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Whisenand and Opal (Ben) Patterson, husband: Howard R. Porter, Sr., step-sister, Helen Stricker, a granddaughter, April Noel Tedder and companion, John Webb.

Funeral services for Norma took place on Saturday, July 24, at Family Funeral Care -West, Indianapolis. Burial followed at Floral Park Cemetery.

ANTHONY “TONY” ROBERTS

70, of Lizton, peacefully passed away with his loved ones by his side on July 22, 2021.

Tony was born on August 5, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana and was lovingly raised by Otis and Mary Boody. He graduated in 1974 from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor’s in Education and later returned to earn a Master’s in Industrial Arts. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army and used his degrees to become a master woodworker and junior high shop teacher. He even wrote a textbook on the subject.

Tony was a member of Connection Pointe Christian Church for over 21 years and he enjoyed classic cars, traveling, exploring outdoors, and coaching football.

In addition to his foster parents, Tony is preceded in death by his brothers, David Young and Vaughn Young.

Tony is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Courtney (Aaron) Davis, and Austin (Winter) Roberts; step-children, Chris Lee, Theresa (Bryan) Komlanc, and Brett (Karma) Lee; grandchildren, Jeremy (Ciara) Komlanc, Nathan Komlanc, Madison (Alex) Hutchinson, Brayton Lee, Nick Komlanc, Marissa Lee, Matthew Komlanc, Ava Davis, Colton Davis, and Beau Roberts; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Ben Komlanc; twin brother, Alan (Linda) Roberts; siblings, Jeff Young, Walter “Tudy” Young, Kenny Young, Barbara Zachary, Laura Wright, and Joe Young; brother-in-law, David Archer; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were Monday, July 26, at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Services in PIttsboro.

JACK C. MAYHUGH

89, passed away July 21, 2021, at Wellbrooke Healthcare of Avon where he had resided for the past several months.

He was born October 30, 1931 to the late Leonard and Fredrica (Colvin) Mayhugh at Princeton, Ind., and lived for more than 80 years in Speedway. Jack was a member of Speedway Christian Church and the American Legion.

A 1949 graduate of Speedway HS where he starred in football and basketball, Jack then attended and graduated from Butler University in 1953 with a degree in Business. Jack served in the US Army for two years and upon returning home from the military, joined Eli Lilly where he worked primarily in Industrial Engineering until retiring in 1988 with thirty-three years of service.

Spring, summer, and fall of the next several years were spent largely on one of several golf courses in the Indianapolis area. Many evenings in the fall and winter he could be found in the grandstands supporting Speedway High School sports, often with his former SHS teammates from the late 1940’s.

Services were Monday July 26, at Conkle Funeral Home Speedway. Interment was at Washington Park North Cemetery. Jack specifically requested that memorial contributions be made to the Speedway Christian Church.

DAVID LEWIS HALLER

76, of Stilesville, passed away on July 25, 2021.

He was born on February 11, 1945 in Muscatine, Iowa, to the late Herbert and Cleo (Pearson) Haller.

David was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He worked for several years at AT&T in Downers Grove, Illinois, retiring in 2000 as the manager.

David was a member of the Masonic Lodge #58 in Medina, Illinois, Murat Shrine and the Cloverdale American Legion. He enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada on his motorcycle, flying with his pilot’s license, watching the Chicago Cubs, and had a love for horses.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. (Kirby) Haller of Stilesville; children, Kenneth David Haller (Lisa), Kevin Dean Haller (Heather), Travis Bogle (Regina), Matt Bogle (Shannon); grandchildren, Alexandra Carolynn Anderson (Kyle), Danielle Paige Barber (Miles), Bradley Starr, Pieper Muse (Jonathan), Preston and Kearnstyn Bogle, Shayla, Tyra and Thorton Bogle.

His parents; wife of 48 years, Barbara J. (Loveless) Haller; children, Jeffery Scott Haller and Kristopher Webb, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield. Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. in the funeral home with military honors to follow the service. ALLEN CRAIG HILL

78, of Jamestown, peacefully passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on July 20, 2021.

Allen was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Stallard and Sylvia (Logsdon) Hill on February 4, 1943. He married the love of his life, Nikki (Johns) Hill on December 24, 1970, a loving union that would last until her passing in October of 2020.

He was a diesel mechanic for Jet Star and a truck driver for many years.

Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, some siblings, and his beloved wife, Allen is preceded in death by his grandson, Noah Hill.

Allen is survived by his sons, Nathan, Charles, and Seth (wife Tiffany) Hill; his granddaughters, Trinity, Lydia, and Sadie Hill; his brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were Monday, July 26, in the Jamestown IOOF Cemetery, where Allen was laid to rest next to his wife, Nikki. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

JOHN T. LAYTON

51, Brownsburg, passed away July 16, 2021.

He was an Auto Body Painter for the Speedway Body Shop; prior, he worked for K & C Collision for 18 years.

John was preceded in death by his son, Tyler Thomas Layton and father, Kenneth L. Layton.

He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Firestone and son, Tyler Lawless.

PAMELA S. ABBOTT

age 77, of Clayton, passed away on July 24, 2021 in Plainfield Healthcare Center. She was born on April 19, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the Late Carl I. and Pauline Parker Burns. She married Ronald Abbott; he preceded her in death.

She graduated from Clayton High School in 1962. Pam was a homemaker. Survivors include her Children: Shawna Tutterow (Steve) and Greg Abbott. 4 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother James Burns.

There will be no services at this time. Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield is in charge of cremation arrangements.

RONALD K. MARTIN

85, of Avon, died Monday, July 19, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Baxter Martin, and survived by his two children, Kimberly Martin Rocke and Brian Martin and his wife, Marlene.

Ron was a Tool & Die Maker at Link Belt, FMC, in Indianapolis, and then worked the last 10 years of his career at Borg Warner in Upstate New York. After retiring, Ron and Marilyn moved to Avon, and lived in the Crystal Springs neighborhood.

Ron was a true race fan and had been going to The 500 Mile Race since 1946, and shared his passion with his son. He also enjoyed golf and played almost daily through much of his retirement. He enjoyed watching basketball and football, particularly Indiana college and professional teams.

Per Ron’s request, no services will be held.
