The Bread Basket Café & Bakery is know for using fresh, locally grown produce and now there’s an artful reminder outside the building. Last weekend, artist Mary McCartney put the finishing touches on a concrete wall that depicts the four seasons in vegetables. Mary is a member of The Gallery on the Square and the artist behind the random sidewalk and street art added to the court house square over the summer.

Council Gets Comprehensive Plan Update
The November 3 meeting of the Danville Town Council was preceeded by a joint meeting and work study with the Danville Plan Commission to hear a presentation of a rough draft Comprehensive Plan being prepared by HWC Engineering.
Cory Whitesell of HWC outlined the process, which began last January with the formation of a steering committee, interviews with stakeholders, online surveys and workshops, an open house to present the results to the public.
The council members were urged to send any comments or questions to HWC by November 15. The next step will be to present the Comprehensive Plan to the Plan Commission in December.
The Council meeting itself had only two items on the agenda.
A request for annexation of property at 187 N. CR 200E by Wayne L, and B. Jane Auger was introduced.
A request for two additional handicap parking spaces was made by the Danville Public Library at the intersectin of Indiana and Marion streets was also introduced. Action will be taken at a upcoming meeting of the Council.
Victory Eludes Warriors at Sectional

It was the game we had all been waiting for since the start of the Sectional tournament. What was expected to be a rematch between rivals Tri-West Bruins and Danville Warriors came to fruition after both teams won their respective games in the previous weeks.
The anticipation was heavy and the excitement at high levels. Signs were placed along Danville streets and State Road 39, and perhaps served as a motivator for the visiting Bruins, with words of encouragement and last-minute well-wishes as the hometown Warriors hoped to continue their quest to Lucas Oil Stadium. Would the anticipation translate to the football field? Would this be the last game for the 19 seniors that filled the Danville roster?
To say this game felt different throughout is an understatement. It did not start out that way, however, as the Danville defense put an early stop to the Tri-West offense and Kale Payne and his offense capped off their first possession with a 13- yard touchdown pass to Tyler Dostin. The Warriors led 7-0 after the Caleb Harvey PAT.
Little else would go right for Danville after that. Tri-West took the lead for good when quarterback Jacob Pearman completed a 7-yard pass to Alex Covey and led 10-7, after the successful PAT. Later in the third quarter, the Bruins would hit pay dirt again when Pearman connected with Jace Mohr for a 32- yard pass and touchdown. The Bruins ran the PAT in for the two-point conversion and extended their lead to 18-7.
Danville seemed to not be able to get anything going after that except for a fleeting moment late in the final quarter when Payne completed a 65-yard pass to BJ Wuest who ran it in to the end zone and brought the Warriors to within 18- 13. Danville would have one more opportunity to complete the comeback after recovering a fumble by the Bruins. Unfortunately, Payne threw an interception with less than a minute to go, allowing Tri-West to take the victory formation and run the clock out.
Tri-West defeated Danville 18-13 to become Sectional Champions. Congratulations Bruins!
Congratulations Danville on another great season! Thank you Coach Comer for continuing the winning tradition for Danville Football.

DCHS Girls Win Basketball Opener v. Perry Meridian

#11 Emma Ancelet scoring on fast break.
By David Winters
The long wait is over. In Indiana, as soon as the last game ends in a basketball season, the countdown to next season immediately begins. That might be truer here in Danville than in any other place in the state. Danville Warrior fans have been spoiled with much success on the hardwood, for both girls and boys, over the past several years. They love their school and their basketball. They are ready for the 2021-2022 season to begin.
Last Thursday, the Lady Warriors tipped off their season and home schedule by welcoming the Perry Meridian Falcons to town. An impressive crowd had already gathered to take in the JV game just before the varsity game, which was a welcomed show of support to kick off another season.
The Lady Warriors controlled the tempo of this game from start to finish and there was no doubt that the visiting Falcon’s were out matched in every position. Danville scored in double figures in each quarter while holding Perry Meridian to single digits in every quarter. The home team won this one easily and started off the season on a positive note. The final score was Danville 53, Perry Meridian 26.
Senior Haley Godwin and Junior Isabelle Wooten led Danville in scoring with 15 points apiece. Wooten also hauled in 11 rebounds to complete her first double-double of the season.
Danville travelled to Hamilton Heights for a Saturday match up and unfortunately dropped that contest by a final score of 58-41. Godwin led the team in scoring with 12 points and Wooten pulled in another 11 rebounds in the loss.
Next up for Danville, and before this article goes to print, is a home game against University and then home for a game against Plainfield on Friday, November 12.
