Pittsboro Christian Church To Dedicate New Organ May 2

MORRIS AND ELIZABETH DILLON

On Sunday, May 2, during the 10a worship service, Pittsboro Christian Church will be dedicating a new organ. The organ was donated by Margaret Ann (Margo) Bart in memory of her mother, Elizabeth Dillon, an organist and life-long member of the church.

Mrs. Dillon was as a gifted musician, playing the piano and organ and giving lessons to many students. She is also fondly remembered by many former students as their fourth grade teacher. She taught for 33 years, mostly in fourth and fifth grades.

The Dillons lived on a farm in Boone County for many years. After Morris’s death, Elizabeth lived in Houston, Texas and in northern California near her daughter and son-in-law. She passed away in 2003 at age 95.

Pittsboro Christian Church, 209 North Meridian Street, Pittsboro, invites you to celebrate the gift of the new organ and remember Mrs. Dillon. Margo Dillon Bart will be joining the the dedication and talented organist Lisa Wassner will be playing the organ. ______________________________________________

Northview Clothes Closet Extends Hours

The Community Clothes Closet at Northview Christian Church, 623 N St. Rd. 29, Danville, announces new and extended hours beginning Saturday, May 1, 2021.

We are open the 1st and 3rd Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as well as the 3rd Thursday of each month, 5 to 7 p.m.

Our community has generously donated a lot of gently-used clothing - including newborn, 3-4X adult - and we want to share with those in need. We look forward to seeing everyone.

In case of emergency needs, contact the church office at 317-745-5990 and an appointment can be set up.

Loan Medical Equipment

Hendricks County Senior Services maintains a limited supply of medical equipment available for loan for residents of Hendricks County as part of the Danville Rotary Club Foundations, Inc’s Durable Medical Equipment Loan program.

Equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no charge for borrowing the equipment. Donations are graciously accepted to help offset the cost of maintaining the equipment. We offer walkers, wheelchairs, rollators, and canes. Call the Senior Center for more information at 317-745- 4303.

Activities at Danville Friends

New Beginnings Clothing Ministry Los Patios, 50 Old Farm, Danville is hosting a Fundraiser Thursday, April 29 for New Beginnings. Come enjoy the best of Mexican cuisine, service & atmosphere. This fundraiser will buy under garments, personnel hygiene items and children’s’ shoes & socks.

New Beginnings will be open Friday, May 7, from noon to 4 p.m. On the same date, Gleaners mobile food pantry will be at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds, across from our church, a much-welcomed opportunity to reach more families in need.

If you or your family or friends need a time to come to New Beginnings, call 317-696-0962 and we will be more than happy to meet you. You can take your time and get the items you need. If there is something specific that you need and we do not have it, we will check our other resources and hopefully they can help.

Family Promise

We have partnered with Danville Christian Church and Hendricks Regional Health to support Family Promise and their dedication to eradicate homelessness

in Hendricks County. Family Promise greatly needs male & female adult bikes for adults in the families in the programs to use for transportation to and from their employments. Noodles & Quilting We are busy making and freezing noodles in preparation for our annual Chicken & Noodle Dinner in November and to sell for the holidays. We have afternoon and evening 2-hour noodle sessions. If you would like to bring a friend and learn the art of noodle making while enjoying great fellowship, call 317-745-5348 or 317 696- 9602. We also quilt and if you would like to join us, call one of the numbers listed above. If you have a quilt that needs attention, has you baffled or that you would just like to share her story, we would love to meet you and hear your story. There is just something about time spent quilting that calms the world around us today, if only for a short while, but we welcome that time, nevertheless.
