Senior Center Food Pantry

Hendricks County Senior Services offers a food pantry for Hendricks County seniors, including perishable, nonperishable, and hygiene products. The food pantry is open by appointment. Please call 317-745- 4303 to make an appointment to come to the food pantry.

Senior Services reserves the right to limit the number of visits. You must be 60 years old or older and a resident of Hendricks County, to use the food pantry. Donations are always needed, accepted and appreciated.

Hearing on Recreational Impact Fee

The Danville Plan Commission

will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, May 12, at 7 p.m., concerning an ordinance to establish a Recreational Impact Fee (RIF).An impact fee is a fee imposed by a local government on a new or proposed development project to pay for all or a portion of the costs of providing public services to the new development.

The RIF would be used for planning and financing Park & Recreation infrastructure in Danville.

The meeting will take place inthe Council Meeting Room at Town Hall, 49 N. Wayne St., Danville. Written comments may be filed with the Plan Commsssion before the meeting.

A copy of the proposed Recreation Zone Improvement Plan is available for public inspection at the Danville Town Hall located at 49 North Wayne Street, Danville, Indiana, or by visiting the Town of Danville’s website at www. danvilleindiana.org/parks.

LINK Public Transit Service

LINK Hendricks County provides public transit service to persons of any age (including wheelchair transport, portable oxygen, attendants, and service animals).

Services are available to anyone needing a ride within Hendricks County. Those under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. If your child falls under the Indiana Child Seat Law you must provide a state approved car seat.

LINK service is scheduled on a first come, first served basis, so riders are encouraged to call as soon as possible, up to three (3) months in advance.

Curb to curb transportation is available Monday through Friday, during the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Service is not available on holidaysor when inclement weather prohibits safe boarding and/or travel.

This is a fee-based service, $6 round trip within a town; $8 round trip within the county. The service is scheduled by calling LINK at 317-718-4474 and requesting LINK transportation.

1 Injured in Local Dispute

A Sunday evening domestic dispute in Danville ended in one person with a self-inflicted gunshot.

Danville Police were dispatched to the 600 block of S. Kentucky around 8:18 p.m. Sunday, April 25. Officers found a large number of individuals, along with the victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the upper chest.

The gunshot victim was taken to an Indianapolis hospital and was reported to be recovering.

The case is still under further investigation.

Yard Waste Recycling Centers Open

Hendricks County Recycling District operates two Yard Waste Recycling Centers that accept woody waste (brush, limbs, firewood, etc.), grass clippings, leaves, and other organic matter from Hendricks County households. Material collected at the centers

will be recycled into mulch.Brownsburg Yard Waste Recycling Center is at 90 Mardale Dr. Hours are Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Phone: 317-858- 8231.

Plainfield Yard Waste Recycling Center is at 7020 S. CR 875 E. Hours: Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Phone: 317-838-9332.

Town Council Tackles Long List at April 21 Meeting

The list for the agenda at the April 21 meeting of the Danville Town Council used up the first half of the alphabet.

A - On behalf of the Wastewater Dept., Supt. Jerry Crisp accepted the Collection System Award from the Indiana Water Environment Association (IWEA). He said the 11-year project to create a management/record system that combined all resources exceeded expectations. Mr. Crisp also announced he will be retiring later this year.

B - Ordinance 5-2021, rezoning for the Quail West development at 125 N CR 200 E, was approved.

C - Ordinance 9-2021, for super-voluntary annexation of property at 589 S CR 75W was given its first reading.

D. Resolution 8-2020, was adopted, approving the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan from Hendricks County Emergency Management.

E. $30,450 approved to replace windows and doors in Bosstick Gym.

F. $6,260 approved for traffic signal repair at E. Main and Old Farm

G. $72,000 approved for replacement of DPW backhoe. (The old one destroyed by fire). H. $9,600 approved new mower for Wastewater Dept. I. $149,750 approved for new chiller for Town Hall building. J. $98,150 approved for roof repairs on Bosstick gym. K. $2,900 approved for traffic study for East Main at

Terry/Kirtley Blvd. and East Campus Drive. L. Town Manager Mark Morgan received approval to form a Traffic Study Committee.

M. Approved request from Redevlopment Commission to transfer funds to make an offer on property at 195 E. Main.

Town Manager Morgan reported 50 golf cart inspections and permits had been issued. ______________________________________________

Adoption Day Celebration

Four-year-old Summer Houser was officially adopted this week by her grandparents, Tom and Kerry Trout of Danville. The special day was celebrated with gifts, breakfast at Courthouse Grounds, and a shopping spree where she could buy anything she wanted. She is a happy girl! ______________________________________________

TRACK DCMS vs North Montgomery & Western Boone

The Lady Warrior track team defeated North Montgomery and Western Boone 82, 34, 34 respectively. Placing for Danville were Wynsleigh Dorsey and Casey Hummel three first a piece; Esaiaba Ennin and Addy Cline two firsts a piece; Annabelle Clements one first one second one third; Elizabeth Oliver one first, one second one fourth; Evelyn Dayharsh one first one second; Maddy Wethington one first and third; Kyleigh Gasper one first one fourth; Moriah Armstrong one first; Lilly Armstrong two seconds and one third; Kendall Bourne one third; and Lily Adams one fourth.

The Warrior boys’ track team defeated North Montgomery and Western Boone 73-46-37 respectively. Placing for Danville were Jack Hearld three firsts; Steven Webb two first one second, one fourth; Lucas Walden two firsts and one fourth; Nathaniel Origer two firsts; Keagan Delano one first and one second; Gavin Glenzy one first, one second and one third; Hayden Harris and Dylan Simmons one first each; Keaton Crumbo one second and one fourth; Liam O’Brien one second; Liam Stierwalt two fourths and Wesley Dennison one fourth. ______________________________________________
