MILDRED “MILLIE”

LOUISE ROSS, 80, of Plainfield, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022.

She was born on December 24, 1941 in Danville, to Albert and Doshia Monday. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Bible Study, where one of her last good deeds was to help a family in need for Christmas.

Millie enjoyed being an artist for her husband, Earl’s Woodcraft company, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing Euchre with her girlfriends, racking up the Bingo Bucks, shopping sprees, watching hummingbirds feed and anything lavender.

She worked several jobs through the years where she made an endless amount of friends. Her first job was with R&S (secretary), Earl’s Woodcraft Company and firewood, delivered papers for the Flyer, Projected Sound, and retired from Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (housekeeping).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Doshia Monday; husband, Earl Ross Sr.; son, Daniel Ross; son, Larry Ross; daughter, Angela Ross.

Survivors include daughter, Lori (Jim) Scott; son, Earl “Lee” Ross Jr. (Betty & Louie Patrick); 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, March 4, in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Burial followed in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.

PHILLIP L. CLARK, resident of Shippensburg, Pa., passed away Wednesday March 9, 2022, at Mammoth Lakes California hospital at the age of 59.

Phil was Born May 30, 1962, in Danville, residing in North Salem, before graduating from Tri West High School, and continued his education with mechanical certificates and LPN nursing degrees.

Phil’s multi-talented career consisted of Construction, Nursing Care, Realtor, and Motorcycle Mechanics. The culmination point of his career was in the employment at American Honda Motor Company for 23 ½ years, where he performed highly regarded technical and business support functions gaining respect and accolades from management, peers, and dealer clients in several States across the US.

Phil is survived by his wife, Olissa Edwards Clark; son Jeremy Clark; parents Stephen and Carolyn Coats Clark; Brother David (Kimberly) Clark; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved foster children.

Phil is preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Bruce Clark.

The service will be officiated by Rob Baire. Visitation will be held at the North Salem Christian Church Friday March 25, 2022 between 2 -6 p.m. There will also be visitation at the Church starting 10 a.m. Saturday March 26, before the funeral service there, starting at noon. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery in North Salem. Arrangements: Eric MD Bell Funeral Home, Pittsboro.

JUDITH “JUDY” ANN

(Reed) BATTISTA, 64, peacefully passed away in her home in Charleston, South Carolina, surrounded by her loving family after a wellfought, courageous battle with cancer, on March 14, 2022.

Spending much of her beautiful life in Brownsburg, Indiana and Estero, Florida, Judy was well-loved by all who knew her. She found her best friend and love of her life while working at IBM in Endicott, NY. She retired from IBM as the vice president of software sales for North and South America. Judy and Roger shared a loving marriage full of laughter and adventure for the past 36 years.

She was an amazing mother to four children whom she adored: Tess (Mike) Kenney, Steve (Kerry) Battista, Kim (Andy) McGinnis, and Chris (Lisa) Battista. However, one of her greatest joys in life was being called “Grandma,” “Nonni” and “Ninni” by her 12 grandchildren: Patrick (Amanda) Bradford-Kenney, Joey Kenney; Tyler, Jason, and Kayla Battista; Wakely and Rocco McGinnis; and Shepard and Piper Jude Battista.

She is also survived by her mom, Barbara Reed, siblings Dana (Charlie) Page, Jim Reed, and Debbie (Marlin) Heinlein, as well as several nieces and nephews. Judy prayed fervently for her kids, grandkids, family, friends, and former colleagues. She loved to meet and pray over her healthcare providers and other patients from the cancer treatment center. Judy started a relationship with Jesus as a young girl and has faithfully followed Him throughout her life.

She is now worshipping her Savior with those who have preceded her to heaven including her dad, Charles Thomas Reed, her granddaughter, Megan Battista and her sister-in-law, Jennifer Reed.

BRIAN DAVID BEN-

NETT, 64, of Danville, passed away on February 19, 2022.

He was born on December 28, 1957 in Knox, Indiana, to the late Karen (Olson) Hamilton and Maurice Bennett. Brian graduated from Brownsburg High School. He was self-employed and most recently sold classic car parts online. He loved all things racing, classic car shows, and a good bargain. Most of all he enjoyed watching and supporting his son, Christopher’s endeavors.

Survivors include his son, Christopher David Bennett (Jessica) of Avon; stepmom, Lynne Bennett of Florida; sisters, Diane Bohlen (John) of Ohio, Tracy Hamilton of California; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and his son’s mother, Susan Bennett Kikendall (David).

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Whiskey Bent Bar & Grill 5250 E US Hwy 36 Ste #120 Avon, IN 46123.

KEITH TRIDLE, 69, of Plainfield, passed away on March 18, 2022.

He was born on February 26, 1953 in Indianapolis. Keith was a machinist for Allison’s Transmission. He attended the Plainfield Christian Church.

Keith was preceded in death by his father, Donald Tridle.

There will be no calling or services.

Survivors include his mother, Delores Anderson; brothers, Howard Owens, Dennis and Tom Tridle; sister, Diane Tridle.

NORRIS RHOADES

TRUEBLOOD, 77, of Danville, passed away on March 02, 2022.

He was born on April 29, 1944 in Seymour, Indiana, to the late Sam Allen and Irene (Rhoades) Trueblood. Norris was a warehouse supervisor for many years before retiring.

He was a long-time member of both the American Paint Horse Association and the Quarter Horse Association.

JOHN A. HAMMANN, age 88, of Plainfield, passed away on March 21, 2022. He was born on April 14, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late William and Kathryn Young Hammann. He married Sharon McLean and she survives.

John was a US Army veteran. He was an educator for several years before his retirement.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday March 26, 2022 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gathering Together 147 N. Center Street Plainfield, Indiana 46168.

Survivors include his wife Sharon Hammann; daughters, Lynn Malin (Leo), Donna Beeker (Bill) and Kathryn Tillman (Lester); sister, Mary Lou Smith; several grandchildren.

LINDA L. (Williams)

CROWE, 76, Avon, passed away March 15, 2022, at her residence.

Linda was born October 27, 1945 to Floyd and Ann Williams. They preceded her in death. Linda graduated from North Salem High School in 1963. She was employed by Phoenix Fabricators for over 20 years.

Linda’s family will cherish her love for her gardening, cooking and big holiday meals, making sure everyone had their favorites.

Linda is survived by her sons, Jeff Hedge (Dana Wagner), Daryl (Dayna) Hedge and Richard (Jamie) Hedge, 1 grandchild, 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Dick (Helen) Williams.

Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel.

MICHAEL “MIKE”

WAYNE WILSON, of Avon, passed away March 19, 2022.

Born in Indianapolis on January 6, 1946. Mike was a 1964 graduate of George Washington High School. Upon graduation, Mike enlisted in the United States Navy serving as a Sea Bee during two tours in Vietnam. Mike was a member of Cluster Busters and enjoyed attending car shows with his antique automobiles. Mike instructed mechanics at Attics High School and retired as a dispatcher with Yellow Freight.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Cleo Leonard and by his sister, Judith Ann Wilson.

There will be no services at this time, Arrangements: Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg.

WENDELL TRENT, 96, of Plainfield, passed away on March 17, 2022.

He was born on May 18, 1925 in Indianapolis to the late William and Weyburn Trent. Wendell was a WWII United States Navy veteran. He was a medical Corpsman for the 4th Marine Division in the invasion of Iwo Jima. Wendell received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his services in WWII.

He retired from Link Belt as a supervisor in 1983 after 23 years. Wendell then went on to work for Wood-Mizer as a tool maker, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church, Plainfield Masonic Lodge # 653, Indianapolis Scottish Rite and a Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star #414.

Wendell enjoyed quail hunting, fishing, caning chairs and collecting hand tools. He was an avid golfer and made 8 holes-in-one over the years. Wendell loved watching baseball and college basketball, especially the Big Ten. He would spend the winter’s in sunny North Ft. Myers, Florida for many years.

Wendell was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcia Trent; brothers, Kenneth, Bernard and Noble Trent.

Funeral services were Monday, March 21, 2022 in the Plainfield Christian Church. Burial followed in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include his children, Larry and Keith (Mary) Trent; daughter, Brenda (Kenneth) Carter; brothers, Ronald (Jean) and Bruce (Virginia) Trent; sister, Barbara (Bill) Furman; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. G. DAVID PETTS

passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022, at the age of 76, at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born on November 12, 1945 in Vincennes, Ind. to the late J. Homer Petts and the late B. Gertrude (Mitchell) Petts.

Dave treasured his lifelong friends, Fred Donnoe, John Burke, and Jim Bible, from their days growing up in Vincennes spent fishing, talking about old vehicles, and running around town together.

In 1965, Dave joined the United States Army and proudly served his country in Vietnam. Although his service ended in 1968, he was always honored to be a part of the military and could tell you stories of his experiences from around the world.

On September 12, 1977, he married Vicky L. (Baumgartner) Petts in Cookeville, Tennessee, and she survives.

He worked for Duke Energy in substation maintenance for over 37 years and retired in March 2007.

Dave always helping someone try to fix or build something and was full of jokes that you were sure to hear more than once if you spent enough time with him.

Along with his wife, Dave is survived by his daughter, Alyson N. (Tom) Edwards; his granddaughter, Elanora C. Petts; his sister, Jeanne (Don) Bailey of Palestine, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; his longtime friends, the Firepit Crew; and his special canine girlfriend, Kylie (sorry, Chewie).

Dave was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert J. Petts and James H. Petts; his sister, Phyllis A. Ralston; his nephews, Jon P. Petts, H. Steve Adams, and great-nephew, Collin R. Petts.

No visitation or services will be held, but a celebration of life gathering will be announced at a later date.

SHIRLEY SHAW, 85, of Plainfield, passed away on March 16, 2022. She was born on March 23, 1936 in Guy, Ky. to the late Otha and Mildred Meador. Shirley was a secretary for Eli Lilly and retired as secretary for one of the Vice Presidents of the company.

She enjoyed knitting, reading and played the piano in her earlier years. She was a former member of River Avenue Baptist Church and current member of Plainfield Bible Church in Plainfield.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 50plus years, David Shaw.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 22, in the Plainfield Bible Church. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.Arrangements: Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.

Survivors include her brother, Larry (Linda) Meador; niece, Cindy (Mike) Duke; nephew, Jeff (Gina) and Brad (Jennifer) Meador.

MARY KATHLEEN “MARY K” SPRINGER

passed away on March 18, 2022 surrounded by loved ones in her Avon home following a long illness.

The only child of Barbara and Kennett Chandler, born on September 12, 1937 in Indianapolis. She graduated from Shortridge High School.

Throughout her lifetime, she filled many roles, including flight attendant and Sunday School Teacher. She worked for the Indy Parks Department for a number of years. She was a tireless volunteer for sporting events and various other activities. She was a member of the American Legion Post 64 Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Eastern Star and Red Hat Society.

She loved to cook enormous meals for her family and friends and she enjoyed crocheting. Her most important role was mother to three children and wife to her loving husband.

She is survived by her husband, Phillip Springer, and her children Jeff (Gigi) Springer, Kristi (Patrick) Burris and Adam Springer, a sister in law Paula Hanson as well as a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mary K’s caregivers, especially her nieces Tana Meko, Dawn Springer and Rebecca Beck. Your kindness is so appreciated.

Funeral services were Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Entombment was in Washington Park North Cemetery, Indianapolis. The family requests that you make a donation to the American Alhizemers Association.
