WHY DO RHINOS NEED OUR HELP?
The rhino is one of the most critically endangered species on earth. At the turn of the 20th century over 500,000 rhinos could be found roaming across Africa and Asia. The devastating rise in poaching for rhino horn combined with the loss of habitat at an alarming rate has since decimated the rhino population. There are currently only around 26,000 rhinos left in the wild outside parks and sanctuaries.
Rhino horn is poached to sell on the black market mostly in China and Vietnam. The misconception that the keratin in the rhino horn has medicinal properties that can cure a variety of ailments from hangovers to cancer has made rhino poaching a lucrative criminal activity.

In addition to the threat of poaching, loss of habitat is a major threat the rhino's survival on our planet. As the pressure on wild spaces increases due to an ever growing human population growth and extreme droughts and flooding become more regular due to the impact of climate change, the need to act now to reverse these fatal trends is increasingly urgent.
