More crowded city
The Manchester government report shows that by 2035, the population of the downtown area will be five times as large as it is now; High-rise buildings and increasing building density will become the norm, and an increasingly crowded city will be inevitable.
Citizen health crisis under high-speed urbanization OThe application of high-density space in cities will cause urban pressure to surge. The occupation of green space by construction land and crowded living space will cause mental health problems in the city. In fact, with large-scale urban development, Manchester's alcoholism, drug addiction, and suicide rates have gradually increased.

Let's Unlock Mayfield......
MAYFIELD Manchester Mayfield is a former railway station in Manchester, England, on the south side of Fairfield Street next to Manchester Piccadilly station. Opened in 1910, Mayfield was constructed as a four-platform relief station adjacent to Piccadilly to alleviate overcrowding. Ihe roadside building was gutted by a fire in 2005.After years of abandonment and many proposed development schemes, the station roof was dismantled in February 2013.

Try to walk around: Overall view of Mayfield 1
The old walls have formed a distinctive feature. There are several student apartments around, and there are many people exercising on the road.

The surrounding area is mainly composed of carriageways, with low building density, and railway bridges are the main landscape composition in the field of vision

The former entrance and exit are closed, and the long and narrow road extends in it, forming a unique vision with the bridge hole,The people are deserted but the vegetation is lush.
What can we see from Mayfield:View Analysis
As an old railway station platform, we analyzed Mayfield's vision. Since the length of the station body is relatively long and the depth is tens of meters, the user's field of vision in the internal space will be greatly restricted.

Around Mayfield is the huge Piccadilly Station. The right side of Mayfield is mainly designed for factories and warehouses, and the east is student apartments and hotels. The whole area actually has a higher density, but mayfield is like a lost place, only a small part of the space is used as a bar
Phanlastery 's transform in Mayfield
After calculation, we found that the space that Mayfield has is not enough to accommodate all phanlastere functions. But the same function can be replaced in the buildings surrounding Mayfield. Therefore, we think that evolving Mayfield into the core area of phanlastere is a more appropriate expression.
What is passion: Investigation on the source of passion We surveyed the people around us to understand what they want and what they think is passionate
Basic wish: A More happy public spaces
Idea of stage: A comprehensive attempt
early practice of design progress
In the process of analyzing Mayfield's space, our mayield's original steel frame structure effectively helped us distinguish the space.
By exploring the composition of the circular space, we can ingeniously merge the spaces with different degrees of openness.
How different spaces need to overlap and how to squeeze each other together is an important question that needs to be considered
Evolution and simulation of external space Relying on the connection between Mayfield and the surrounding space, the original entrance and exit were strengthened and new connections were also established. The original structure is retained, while retaining the Mayfield space characteristics, making the space more in line with actual needs.
From enclosed garden to safe bouble The concept of envelopment of the sphere reflects that in addition to the closed form on another level, it also forms a more contradictory expression. While people are opening themselves up, they also form a tighter protection for themselves. How to have both openness and closedness through the spatial form, so as to convey the inner passion demand.
Hortus conclusus is a Latin term, means "enclosed garden". Hortus conclusus suddenly appearing in paintings and manuscript illuminations about 1330. In the dwawing of Hortus conclusus "turf benches, fountains, raised beds, 'estrade'[24] trees, potted plants, walkways, enclosing walls, trellises, wattle fences and bowers" familiar to contemporary viewers, but assembled into an illusion of reality. This form of expression represents people's self-exploration and desire for inner passion.
Evolution and superposition: the continuous generation of forms Based on closed waves, combined with the deduction of psychological security, an open space with different forms.

Wonderland explore: composition and analysis of space
The different dimensional forms of the main circle in the inner space of Mayfield are the main components. Through mathematical and physical relationships, different forms are repeated and combined, and finally a space expression system with the stage and different theaters as the core is formed.
