TYPE OF MEMBERSHIP: Regular: all benefits of membership Affiliate: all benefits of regular membership except the right to vote and register animals at member reduced rates. Honorary Life: awarded by Board of Directors All privileges of regular member except the right to vote. Junior: as per January first of membership year, must not be over 21 years of age. All privileges of regular member except the right to vote. MEMBER AWARDS: Master Breeder: The highest honor a member can receive from the Association. Designates outstanding breeder of Purebred Holsteins. Veteran Breeder: Must have registered or been involved in the registration of at least one Holstein animal per year for 30, 40, 50 continuous years determined by the birthday of the animal. Veteran Member: Must have 40, 50, 60 continuous years of membership with Holstein Canada. This person is no longer breeding Holstein cattle, but still remains a member of Holstein Canada.

Alberta Branch Programs Alberta Breeder of the Year Award

Initiated in 2001 this award recognizes the accomplishments of five Alberta Breeders nominated by their local clubs. Each year at the annual meeting the Provincial winner is announced.

Presidents Club Cow Award

This award is presented at the annual meeting to a breeder in each club to recognize cows that achieve high production and classification in Alberta herds.

2015 Breeders of the Year Van den Pol Dairy

Curtis Clark Achievement Award

2015 President’s Club Cow Summershade Icellene Baxter Lucky Hill / Skywest

This award is presented annually at the Royal; Winter Fair to the dairy exhibitor who possesses the ability, sportsmanship and character necessary to be respected by his fellow breeders and showman. Established by the Alberta Branch in 1988 to honor the late Curtis Clark of Acme Holsteins.

Marj Atkins Achievement Award

This award is a special achievement award based on lifetime achievement and involvement within the Alberta Holstein Industry.

Transportation Grants

are provided for cattle traveling to Madison and the Royal Winter Fair.

Sponsorship is provided for

Western Canadian Classic, Provincial 4-H Dairy Show, Alberta 4-H Clubs, The “Classic”, Bred and Owned Milking Classes.

Scholarship Award

Up to (4) $500 scholarships will be awarded for students who have completed the first year university or college and are returning to school within the calendar year. Scholarships are awarded at the Branch Annual Meeting in February.

Open to young adults between the age of 19 & 29 with strong interest in the dairy industry. The program encourages young adults to attend the National Holstein Convention and participate in strategy sessions, tours and Holstein events held during the National Convention.
