LADIES TEAM FORMED NOTICEBOARD

As part of the club's development pathway, we will be introducing a senior ladies first team this year.

The team will form part of the club's senior section and provide a much needed player pathway outlet for upcoming female players within the club's junior section, whilst also striving to progress through the leagues in the female pyramid of the game. The club will have somewhat of a head start in the set-up of the ladies team as it will be bringing an established team and coaching staff under its umbrella in the shape of the current Hebburn Involve Ladies first team. The club would like to place on record its thanks to Hebburn Involve FC for the support in making this transition work.

Hebburn Town Ladies will play home games at the home of Hebburn Town FC, The Green Energy Sports Ground and Hebburn Clegwell 3G, during the 2023/24 season with entry free of charge.

Along with the existing squad of players, the club will continue development across its juniors section as well as its successful Ladies Just Play sessions to promote female players into its new ladies team. The club hope to attract talented female players from across the region that want to represent an upcoming grassroots community club with fantastic facilities.

Our Ladies Just Play sessions and small-sided games groups that participate on Tuesday evenings will continue to take place and further support the player pathway journey.

League champions Worksop Town expressed their quality on home turf with a 4-1 win on Saturday.

Worksop’s opener came on 23 minutes after a neat passage of play, resulting in Luke Hall squaring to Liam Hughes for a low finish past Shaun Newbrook. That lead was doubled with 34 on the clock when a push on Robbie Spence was waved away, allowing Hall to again set up Hughes at close-range.

Worksop’s attacking combo of Hughes and Hall again proved a danger on 68 minutes, this time the latter got his name onto the scoresheet with a finish from inside the six-yard box. Moments later, Joe Walton committed a foul inside the area and Hughes stepped up, sending Newbrook the wrong way for his hat-trick. Amar Purewal was denied low by Dylan Parkin as Hebburn tried to claw one back, though The Hornets got their consolation when the number nine rounded the keeper on 82 minutes. That result made it 32 games unbeaten for the alreadycrowned champions, Worksop. Hebburn meanwhile dropped down to fourth behind Stockton Town and Long Eaton United, though a win against Pontefract Collieries would rebound them to second.

4-1
