AWAY THE LADS

HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME BACK TO THE GREEN ENERGY SPORTS GROUND THIS AFTERNOON.

It was a good, solid performance last weekend at Consett. We had a good share of the ball. We could've used it better, but we went with a gameplan and it worked. We made one change with Robbie Spence coming in for Sean Reid due to the surface. I thought we were solid in units, but individually some of the lads were superb. It can be a difficult surface to play on, and we knew if we pressed them high then we could pinch the ball in good areas. That happened but we struggled to get the final pass right in the first half. In the second half, we were nice and solid - they had a share of possession but it was in their own half. We've seen Liam Henderson improve over the last few weeks and get back to his best - he looks sharp in training and I'm pleased for him to get two goals. I want to give a special mention to the supporters not just for last Saturday, but since the start of the season. They have followed us in numbers and been a brilliant boost to the team so thank you. Long Eaton are a good footballing side - I know a bit about them from being down that way. We're at home which will make a nice change - we can't let any team come to our house and implement their gameplan. It's got to be about us - we've got to continue our great individual performances which will help us collectively.
