Following our Isuzu FA Trophy exit at home to Warrington Town, Daniel Moore's side secured Durham Challenge Cup progression away to Horden CW. Moore handed Gabriel Bada, Daniel Field and James Harrison first Hebburn starts at Welfare Park. Olly Martin netted a penalty in the second half, and Liam Murray followed up with a driven strike from distance to win 2-0. The Hornets will host Jarrow in the second round at The Green Energy Sports Ground. Hebburn then travelled to Ossett United where chances were limited. Murray converted a spectacular solo effort and two home players were sent off with 30 to go. Moore’s side couldn’t find a second despite having two extra men, but The Hornets held on to the 1-0 victory regardless. The following week, Hebburn met Consett for the first time since the 2020 FA Vase Final. The visitors looked sharp at Belle View and got our reward as Liam Henderson headed in a corner. Henderson scored another in the second period, clutching a 2-0 win to strengthen our grip on second place.
