Eric Collier FAQ’s What should I do if I smell gas? If you think you can smell gas, immediately shut it o using the valve on the meter, open the windows and doors and leave your property. You should then call a Gas Safe registered engineer or the National Gas Emergencies number on 0800 111 999.

Why are my heating pipes noisy? Turning your heating on makes the pipework and radiators expand. Where pipes cross joists or radiators are held captive upon their brackets you may hear a clicking sound and a metallic pinging as the pipes move in very small but steady steps. This noise is normal and will stop once the system has reached full working temperature.

The purpose of a boiler service is to ensure that the boiler is in good condition and working e ectively. A yearly service will decrease the wear that takes place over time. Having a service more than once a year is unnecessary. Â

How long will it take to service my boiler? It will usually take around 20-30 minutes to service a boiler. Why is my radiator is hot around the edges but cold at the bottom? This is a common problem that takes place when there is a build up of sludge at the bottom of the radiator. This means that your heating system pipework is clogged up and dirty. To overcome this issue you will need the system cleaning using a power ush machine.
