A short interview with musician Sali Bracewell by Nick Hanlon

pandemic?

The local live music scene has been greatly reduced due to Covid 19 restrictions. Main Arm musician Sali Bracewell, who sings in English and Welsh, has kept herself busy recording her new album, Kismet. Now featured on over 10 Spotify playlists and so far garnering over 35K streams, Bracewell’s music is travelling from the Byron Shire out into the wider world.

Releasing my debut album, Kismet. Connecting with fans, promoting myself to a ‘captive’ audience, excuse the pun.

1.Describe your music. Ethereal Alt-pop with folk influences. 2. What have you been doing as a musician during this

3. You have had a good response from Spotify, your music has been added to many playlists. How did you make that happen? I researched private playlists on Spotify and contacted the owners directly, politely asking them if they would be interested in placing my songs on their playlists. The Welsh songs were the most successful, I suppose because they fitted nicely into the ‘Celtic’ niche.

4. What’s coming up next for you?

I have more songs to release, it’s very exciting. A live version and video of my fourth single, ‘Albatross’, which we shot and recorded on the Steinway at The Byron Bay Community Centre with Noli from Byron Film producing, Nathan Kaye of Solar Sound Foundry Studios capturing sound, costumes by Bryony at Pin Cushion Couture and some beautiful dancing by Laura Kate at L.K Choreography.
