“He’s doing fantastic. I can see he is on the right path to be successful in life, having a job and having a routine that he enjoys and that he’s happy about,” said Luis. Luis said he’ll never forget one phrase he heard early on to describe Achievement Academy: one of the best-kept secrets of Polk County. He agrees. “As a special needs parent what a relief it is to have your child be part of that school.” If there is a secret ingredient, Luis feels it is the staff. “Everybody is so dedicated to making those kids succeed,” he said. Williams agreed. As development director she can vouch for the longevity of the folks who work at the school. “Our principal has been here 30 years. Our early interventionists in the birth to 3 program have been here 34 and 35 years. One of our physical therapists has been here over 30 years,” Williams said. Robinson, Leah’s teacher, has been with the school for 20 years.
