Summer Staff Leave Policy 2014 Heartland Center summer programming is dedicated to creating authentic Christian Community for children and youth. To meet this goal, we hire staff that are able to help foster and grow that community throughout the summer. Thus, it is important that staff be available during the summer programming time.
Heartland Camp Leave Policy for Summer Staff: • Unpaid leave should ordinarily be asked for before the first full week of camp occurs. The Program Director will grant leave based on staffing needs during the requested time frame. • In all situations, unpaid leave is granted at the Program Director’s discretion. • Mandatory Weeks are weeks that no unpaid leave will be approved due to high • Registration and staffing needs. • Family Emergencies are an exception and will be allowed when given notice to the Program Director. Mandatory Weeks for 2014 • July 20-25 • July 27-Aug 1 • Aug 4-8 (Day Camp Staff Only) If any summer staff takes time off in violation of this policy, it will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
