Garces won the girls’ Division 2 race at the Holly Festival of Races on Saturday, finishing first out of 102 runners with a time of 19:18.8 on the 5K course. Four days earlier, Garces won the girls’ race at the first Saginaw Valley League jamboree, finishing first out of 114 runners with a time of 18:44.31 in the 5K.

In an Aug. 26 game against local rival Bullock Creek, Riley rushed for 220 yards and two touchdowns, including an electrifying 93-yard TD run; passed for 112 yards and a TD; returned an interception 66 yards to set up a TD; and had a kickoff return of over 50 yards.

During a Sept. 2 quad at Ann Arbor Skyline, Roberson won the 50-yardfreestyle in a personal-best and pool-record time of 23.42, while also winning the 500 freestyle in 5:02.77, which was less than a tenth of a second off her personal-best time. She also helped the Chargers win the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay, while competing against Brighton (ranked No. 4 in Division 1), Grosse Pointe South (No. 2 in Division 2), and Skyline (No. 4 in Division 2).

Roberson broke her own school record in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:49.56 to finish second at the elite Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association meet at Calvin University Roberson also won the100 freestyle with a time of 50.46, nearly a full second ahead of the next-closest finisher, and helped the Chargers finish third in the 200 free relay and fourth in the 400 free relay at the MISCA meet.
