Jack White’s Work Ethic

If you’re feeling a little low on inspiration these days, it may be understandable. The world, after all, has been a bit of a mess the past few months, and it doesn’t necessarily inspire us all to do our best, work our hardest, or be creative. But then again, there’s also something to be said for putting in the work, even when you don’t necessarily feel your most inspired. But don’t take our word for it, take Jack White’s. The guitar legend has made quite the name for himself in the world of music, not just through The White Stripes but through solo efforts and countless collaborations. Did he always feel inspired? Well, if this excerpt from an interview is any indication, it may not matter. “Inspiration and work ethic — they ride right next to each other…. Not every day you’re gonna wake up and the clouds are gonna part and rays from heaven are gonna come down and you’re gonna write a song from it. Sometimes, you just get in there and just force yourself to work, and maybe something good will come out.” So next time you’re feeling a little low on inspiration, take Jack White’s advice and put in the work anyway. Some days you may not get much out of it, but other days maybe you just might.
